DrMark2000 banned!

I agree with you. I cited why it looked to me that they both “all but” called each other liars.

Jim

Firstly, I didn’t call her a liar. I pointed out that promises of new stuff have been made before by an administrator, and then no new stuff appeared.

Then I said that I would surmise that this promise of new stuff will go the way the last one did.

Reasonable inference. If someone promises to meet you at the movie theater at 7:30 and they just don’t show up, would you think they might blow off a similar promise again?

Secondly, TubaDiva made mention of promises she’d like to make me for my nasty ways or however she phrased the other personally insulting stuff (that apart from calling me deliberately dishonest). I doubt she was thinking about sending me silk pillow cases and a 20 lb box of hundred dollar bills, and can only assume that she meant something more like punishment or banning.

To me it read like ‘Back up, admit you’re a liar, and I’ll overlook my desire to ban you for being a lying heinous bitch’ (paraphrase).

Seriously, should someone have hints like that thrown at them for telling an unflattering truth about an admin of this forum?

Thirdly, aw forget it. Joke’s too old.

If two people call each other shoplifters, and one of them is a shoplifter, then they are hardly ‘even’.

I’m going to repost this, sans the ending fillip. The reason is because I’d like for someone to address whether the features I mention were added before or after the P2P.

So how 'bout it, people with better memories than mine? Are these older than my original subscription (03-22-2004, JFTR), or younger? I’m genuinely curious.

I guess we know your brand though, eh?

Tubadiva The straight dope has failed to improve since going to subscription. Accusing Catsix of lieing is complete rubbish. Please stop using these boards as a place to throw arround your Administrative weight in petty vindictiveness and pathetic power plays.

More like you had salad for supper, I drive a Focus. Content has no bearing on board performance. The lies put forth by management as to why the board is the slowest child on the internet run counter to the fighting ignorance motto.

As to the OP, I took drmark with a grain of salt but rather liked the way he rattled everybody’s chain. Although I don’t read every post here I certainly found no reason to doubt his bona fides and I think the pile on and subsequent banning say more to the thin skins here than any pursuit of truth. Whatever. I’m out of here because the board performance SUCKS and no amount of saying it doesn’t or saying it is better than it was can change that objective truth.

Ratchet back the rhetoric, chickie. All I said was, I don’t like all that animated shit. But if you wanna be justice with her shining sword, knock yourself out. Just do it on someone else, as I agree about the speed. Seeing as how you’ve been here since 2005, you don’t really remember the days when it took 20 minutes (I shit you not) to load a page.

And angels will weep at your passing, I’m sure.

Good Bye, Good luck and enjoy.

Personally, I think the way you express this says more about you than about us.

So when did the board switch to 24/7, late 2004 or early 2005?
It used to be down for maintenance every night between 3 and 4 AM. Unfortunately, my insomnia isn’t as bad as it used to be, so I don’t get to make full use of this new feature. Regardless, I like it for tose times when I’m not asleep.

Actually, I was trying a rif on your “we won’t give back the thread til you meet our demands” posture. I’m not that big on poking sticks at typos.

I blame DrMark2000, myself.

I’m behind Catsix. She made a claim. That claim was backed with a cite. Instead of a rebuttal of those points, we see quibbling and semantic nitpicking of the cite.

I’m also behind Catsix because it makes it easier to see her luminescent posterior.

The nice interface box with all the clever buttons and things wasn’t always here-- I remember having to furrow my brow trying to remember how to post a link, although I think there was some verbal instruction somewhere. It used to be that the people what could change color and size of their text were 1337 with arcane skillz.
The little green and gray buttons are also within the last couple of years or so, I think.
The board is much much much faster and more reliable than it used to be. I love the mouseover preview, too. I have no idea what came with P2P but I do know that all this wasn’t the case a few years ago.

I get the feeling that some people think that Dex and Tuba sit around thinking of ways to screw us dopers. While they are having this discussin, Dex is lighting his big cigars with $15 dollar bills, and Tuba wipes the chocolate off her fingers with more $15 dollar bills.
I don’t see it that way. Way back when the Reader started a message board that grew and grew and became a major money pit. A couple of years ago, the board went PTP and has since added Google ads. It is my guess (and it is only a guess) that right now the board is in the black. I am sure that if Dex and Tuba had their way, they would implement as many cool featuers as they could afford. This would be smart, as it would boost subscribers, and generate more revenue.
The problem is that they still have to answer to the bosses at the Reader. They have to make a business case to the PTB there that spending money on the SDMB is a good idea. Bosses have a bad habit of sometimes saying no. One reason that the PTB might say no to some way cool up grade is that even if the board is in the black now, if you look at the total since 1999 I am sure it is a sea of red ink.
I don’t think that blaming Tuba or Dex for a lack of upgrades is fair. In addition, you have to admit the board crashes a lot less often then it used to, and runs faster too.

Me I’d be happy with that puking smiley, and a spell checker.
$.02

I agree with you Rick. No one is making any money from this board. And it’s better than it was. The Mods have a difficult and often thankless job.

Me, too. And one more thing - a drop-down box in the “Reply to Thread” screen that lets you navigate to another forum.

Yeah it used to be that you had to click a link that brought up a pop-up with VBulletin help. And the green/gray dots used to be yellow/gray checkmarks. Just a color change, is all. Kind of like the changing of the report post icon, which used to be a blue exclamation point with no border of any kind.

Like I said though, it’s not just ‘we’re not adding new features’. If they were just up front about that, it’d be cool.

I do think that TubaDiva went out of bounds with what she said to me. I don’t expect an apology.

Well, I know where Arnold Winkelried’s heart lies, at least.

There’s one thing my $14.95 (actually my $7.48 - nyah, nyah) has clearly gotten. Fewer idiots.

Back in the (free) day, this board was infested with people who could be guaranteed to come into almost any thread with a cheery “heY Duedz! WHASSUP??? BTW Bush SUCKZ!”

Oh, they still show up from time to time. But they magically disappear when their 30 days runs out and it’s time to pay up or shut up.

Catsix may be right that we all thought we were promised more than we actually received. But we did get a vastly improved signal-to-noise ratio. To me, that alone is worth the price of admission.
