Dude, once the board shuts down, how am I gonna collect from all you pussies?

Hasn’t PayPal been mentioned? Alternatively, you and the person betting against you could both send postdated checks to a trusted third party, who will hold them until (say) May 1, 2007, then send the winner the loser’s check and destroy the winner’s check.
Is there anyone on this board you’d consider trusting as check-holder?
Kotogotoshii chijin.
Honey furashu!
Your wasting your breath…errr, typing. Clearly, he has no intention whatsoever of standing behind his proposed wager. He’s intelligent and creative enough to have thought of any number of ways such a thing might proceed; the fact that he has not done so, and continues to dance around the issue, says all that needs to be said.
I know. I just want it absolutely clear that the cowardice is all his. I’m pretty sure it’s evident by now to everyone including him, though he won’t admit to it.
He didn’t actually propose the wager. OneCentStamp did. Aeschines just doesn’t have the balls to accept it.
True enough. I could understand him not wanting to bet (he may have personal or religious reasons against it) but his excuse is that he wouldn’t be able to collect, which is preposterous.
An inch, but 5 and half inches tall.
sorry, but when an admin makes such a snarky veiled accusation of lying, I do indeed expect that they own up to making a mistake when shown to be mistaken. adult behavior and all, you know?
humans make mistakes. adults admit it.
So? I am not an admin. You made a comment about holding the thread hostage. I made a joke about hijackings. You took it to be a comment of spelling or word choice. I simply pointed out that I was not attacking your phrasing.
I don’t care whether you hold the thread hostage. In the middle of an angry thread I attempted (perhaps unsiccessfully) some mild humor. I suspect that we will all survive this experience.
Tuba is the admin I spoke of, obviously. hand waving by you aside, what she did was wrong. both factually and ethically. and should be addressed.
did no one learn from history? coverup and ignoring wrongs always are looked at more harshly.
damn.
I made an off-topic joke. Take the bug out of your ass and move on.
you forgot ‘mod hat on/off’
I only wear stocking caps in the winter and straw hats in the summer, both for weather protection. I never wear a hat at the keyboard, although when I act as a moderator, I always include the tag " [ /Moderating ]" at the end. I have issued no “Moderator” instructions in this thread.
I believe those features are older than subscriptions. If you read this thread from January '04, you see people talking about roll-over previews and link buttons. By the time 2004 had rolled around, I think those were old features. The thread, I think, bears out this impression.
Old thread, don’t post in it or we’ll have ZOMBIE THREAD!
Just for the record the linked thread is called “Things I miss with the new design” from three months before the subscriptions were announced.
Cheers,
sinjin
How DARE you call me that!
Am I the only one who thinks Tuba was simploy parodying the esrtwhile drmark?
That’s my recollection as well. Quick reply, better interface, were all because of a board software change, not P2P, and I’m pretty sure guests get the same interface as memebers. I believe the only things members get that guests don’t is ability to search, and ability to see #posts and location in the thread without having to go to the person’s profile. That, and the “charter member” title where applicable. No “cool stuff” for paying members.
Yes.
