I agree, but the thread is about early reports.

Well, MSNBC calls NC for Obama as soon as the polls closed, so clearly the exits did show an easy Obama victory.

When I was in 5th grade, we had a similar mock election. Ross Perot won decisively, IIRC. So…

In our 5th grade mock election, Clinton won, but Perot spoiled it for Bush (I was one of the few Perot voters that helped put Clinton over the top).
So maybe kids can predict these things?

How did they do this? We’ve been yelling about this since 7:30:001 when MSNBC projected the win-- without one vote being counted?

I’m from Ohio, so I understand the population layout of the area. That’s why I agreed. ![]()
and with 19% reporting, it’s still Clinton 58 Obama 42. They’re calling NC for Obama, but not showing any reporting precincts.

Sigh…in my 6th grade one, Carter beat Reagan quite handily.
Hmm, someone at the CNN website messed up. They’re calling it for Obama, but showing Clinton with 73%.
ETA - Bah! Now it says Clinton 58% Obama 38%. These rapid changes are making my head spin.

Can anyone explain why anything Drudge posts, either way, should be taken seriously, discussed here, or even read? Are you all so desperate for news that you’ll even read fiction?
[/QUOTE]
It’s doubly bad: early exits aren’t worth shit anyway - didn’t we all figure this out by early evening on November 2, 2004? And of course when Drudge is the messenger, you know it’s gotta be crap.
So yeah, there’s no angle you can look at this stuff from and see something that’s worth even a brief look.

The percentages reflect the relative split of all the votes counted so far, which don’t necessarily reflect the wider vote. So if the first 300 votes counted lean Clinton, the percentages will reflect that. The networks call it based on the exit polls. They figure out what the 99.whatever confidence interval will be, and if the margin is bigger than that, they call it.
