Crap, a 99er, was he Charter? I’d like to search his posts, but I believe I am only allowed one search a week.
I don’t have any definitive answer here – I saw nothing indicating his intention to leave. I’d be much more inclined to believe it a database glitch than a longstanding, active member without profound issues against the board suddenly quitting. But maybe someone who actually knows something will clear it up.

IIRC, which I probably don’t–he wasn’t a Charter Member, because he declined to Pay to Post. After a while, he decided he missed the boards, and came back.
So, my assumption on seeing that guest tag is that his subscription is up or almost up, and he will need to renew.
But don’t count on my memory being accurate.
It doesn’t prove a thing. Probably his membership ran out last night and he hasn’t renewed (yet).
I’m not sure what happened to his title; we’ll check on it. Probably not until Monday, though.
I’ve seen this a lot. With other people at various times. I always thought it was a glitch. Sometimes I’d see a member who has been here awhile’s status be guest just in one recent topic and will wonder what happened…but it’s happened often enough now that I just figure something wonky in the system.
Wait, is that because you’re a Member, or something particular to you? I didn’t know about a search limit for any paid members (other than the waiting 30 seconds or whatever between searches).
Between that and the “breaking the search engine” comment, I think he’s mocking the Reader’s claim that frequent searches are the primary cause of the occasional crashes the SDMB experiences.
If that’s not what he meant, I got nothin’.
Mock is a strong word. I prefer, “I kid”. Although with honest frustration.

So now we are renewing people who have not asked to be renewed? What if he went away under protest? What if he was disgusted with this place and let his membership expire out of protest? What if he no longer wanted to be associated with this place? Well now you have potentially ruined his grand statement. Good job.

He seems to be visiting more than once today( I looked at his profile page 2-3 times). Maybe he’s getting some perverse enjoyment from this.
Maybe if we Pit him for this, he’ll magically appear!
