It’s times like this I’m glad I’m not a cop.
Too many encounters with folks like this would pretty much eradicate any faith I ever had in the human race.
Now to the real issues. Are the police obligated to follow up with the complaint?
Those geniuses certainly aren’t Dope material.
Speaking as someone who’s read Dave Barry’s Complete Guide to Guys, I’d say that this confirms my faith in the human race.
I don’t have a cite, but I do recall police in southern Ontario arresting some people for stealing pot.
I believe he was referring to the cops arresting the people who called in saying their pot was stolen.
I too have a vague recollection of Roe Conn [radio host] talking about a similar case in downstate IL and the cops were not sure if they should arrest the thieved. Not sure how that ended up.
Unless we weed out the dopes, the whole country will go to pot.
No, I was referring to police in southern Ontario arresting some people for stealing pot. The victims reported the robbery to the police, who went out and arrested the thieves. I don’t recall if they arrested the victims or not.
Recently there somebody phoned the cops and said someone stole some of their pot plants. The cops went over to investigate and arrested the owners because there were still some plants there.
Hey, this isnt where I parked my car! :dubious:
I guess they didn’t keep their Dope Straight.
Ok, ok, that was a bad one. I was really reaching.
Diogenes, I’ve found that I can count on one of two things happening reading your OP’s.
Either
A) I shake my head at your politics
Or
B) I laugh my ass off at some of the shit you find. This one I’ll give B++++(think of the teacher from A Christmas Story to know the joy I have in all those +'s)
Side note: Does anyone else remember the episode of Cops where a skank flags down a squad car because the person she was buying crack from ripped her off? I want to say it was Portland or Seattle, but not sure on which city.
My libertarian side wants to be indignant that the government is fighting a pointless war on drugs rather than protecting property like it should.
But the rest of me is cracking up at how dumb those two are.

It’s times like this I wish you were a cop. This is just the story that made it to the papers. For every front-page ‘stupid criminal’ story, there have to be at least 20 we never hear of.
Given your mastery of the English language in eviscerating all things dumb while making the rest of us laugh our asses off, you would stand to compile a few books in a year or so.
Sheriff Wang-Ka in '05! Vote now.
Years ago I was sitting in the courtroom in Flagstaff, waiting to testify as a character witness for a friend that had pulled an extremely stupid stunt.
Right before his case came up, the judge was questioning a longhaired young college age kid on his arrest for less than an ounce of marijuana.
The kid had been fixing a flat on his VW bus (could this be anymore stereotypical) and a state trooper had pulled over to give him a hand.
When they were done, the trooper asked if college kid had any pot, the kid replied sure and reached into the glove box and handed him his stash.
The judge was astounded that college had just given it to him:
“Did he search the bus?”
“No sir.”
“Did he smell marijuana?”
“No sir.”
“Did he have any reason to suspect that you were carrying marijuana?”
“No sir.”
“Did you understand that he was a state trooper and therefore an officer of the law?”
“Yes sir.”
“So why did you hand him the pot?”
“I thought maybe he wanted to get high with me.”
The whole courtroom erupted into laughter.
