Long story short: (takes deep breath)
Missy, the younger sister of my ex, bought herself a laptop from Gateway, they had a deal, buy laptop, get free desktop, which is on it’s way to us, should be here by the middle of next week.
This will be a BRAND new computer, not like our Frank-n-computer that we have now.
We will be going from Windows 95 to Windows XP and if I understand correctly, we will get a free year of AOL. I’m thinking of buying the XP for Dummies Book, it’s about $23, which is a bit much, but I want to get to know the ins & outs of the software. I’ve had Windows 95 for over 5 years, and I have never made full use of it. We also had AOL 3.0 way back then. Maybe there’s a Dummies Book for that to.
If any of you have any suggestions, tips, hits, or whatever that will make the transition easier, that would be most helpful.
Unless you seriously won’t be able to function without having a reference around, I’d just borrow the book from the library. Books on software get obsolete pretty quick, after all. YMMV.
i borrowed a dummies book for my windows office suite, or whatever it is, but the problem is, i can only check it out for a few weeks at a time. since i borrowed it, i have forgotten half of the stuff in it, and they won’t check it out to me right away. spend the money on the dummies xp.
