Yeah, we’re dealing with a lot more “Golden Pond” here than “Hawaiian Beach”.
Join date is 22 December 2015. Too bad this site doesn’t permit avatars; this would be a good one for the OP.
Dude. You signed up for the Dope approximately 30 hours ago. And you’re already picking fights and Pitting people.
That’s “the kind of man” you are.
Not only that, he promised to defend Bryan against any scallywags who might criticize him in the future. That’s impressively magnanimous of the OP – noble indeed, and quite an unexpected coup for Bryan to have won such a formidable ally!
Because the most valuable thing one can have, on this board or any other, is the committed support of a complete dipshit noob like the OP with a mental age of about seven. A dipshit noob who just joined yesterday and whose total contribution has been about a dozen posts in one thread, most of which were to insult other posters. An asshole so small-minded and petty that after just one day, he shows up in the Pit after being told by a mod to stop the insults, so that he can continue to try to insult a long-time member that most of us have a great deal of respect for. An asshole so self-absorbed and so fucking stupid that he thinks this is a winning strategy.
And I think we all know exactly whose socks those are.
Wow, pompous much? I wasn’t participating in the discussion that pushed your snooty button, but I’m on the other guy’s side just from reading this post of yours.
Santa? Hitler? Help me out, I get the right answer confused sometimes.
You registered here yesterday, and within the space of one day you’re pitting a long-time poster. If you’re not “the kind of man who just randomly throws people in the Pit,” then consider you may just be an asshole. enjoy your stay here, it will be short.
Goddamn that Cyberian!!
I think I see who the dumb-ass is in that thread and this one.
A two-day member. That must be the fasted anyone’s made it to my Ignore list.
His will be a short stay, hardly worth the effort.
Yeah, he’ll get a lump of coal for Christmas, and won’t be seen after.
I agree with you on the statement that “struggling” is hard to define. Wakiyan even said, “What’s struggling to one bloke is high life to another.” “Struggling” in ANY artistic context is almost completely subjective. I’m a writer myself looking to get published, and I’d hardly say I’m struggling.
What angered me so much about that fellow’s post wasn’t that he was being a professional know it all. I certainly wouldn’t put a man in here for that. (Otherwise I’d have pitted half this site)
What angered me was the last line of his first post. He called me “a culturally-biased Westerner” and “Westerners are constrained by our biases.” While that may apply to some people, I take SERIOUS EXCEPTION to what basically amounted to a personal insult. I am proud to reside in Honolulu, a city that is the definition of cultural diversity. I am a regular at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, on the same island. (It’s a sort of living museum-theme park combination. Good times.) I MOST CERTAINLY DO NOT bias myself against other cultures, and I don’t handle personal insults like that well. The way I reacted, though, was wholly unacceptable, and I have to be a man and own up to acting like an ass on my FIRST THREAD, no less.
“It is the measure of a man when he can admit to being wrong.” --Abraham Lincoln.
Well, I am admitting to being wrong and backing out before this gets more ridiculous.
Indeed they did. In fact, there’s a very informative A&E Biography documentary about those guys.

We need a Ban Pool on this one. I got three days.
I know, huh? I could have told everyone that about you from your long history of being here with only 26 posts, registered about a week ago.
If that makes you angry you should find another board. Virtually everyone here is a know-it-all or someone who doesn’t mind dealing with know-it-alls.
Psssssttttttttt…

Know-it-alls in and of themselves don’t piss me off. I deal with them on a daily basis. Know-it-alls who insult me like that fellow did? Those piss me off quite a bit. I have an immense respect for the cultures that make Honolulu unique, and the vibrant mix of people who, in my eyes, aren’t Japanese or Chinamen or Polynesians, but simply Honolulans. (That’s what a resident of Honolulu is called)
Again, I could have handled the insult a lot better than I did.
