I was a bit drunk when watching so please forgive the dumb Q. Monty’s dad did end up dropping him off at prison, correct? Or were we supposed to be left guessing whether he went to prison or fled with the father?

Nope, he goes to prison. That scene is just a vision of Monty imagining what would happen if he told his dad to take the exit.
