I’ve already stated my opinion on where I stand regarding my feelings on PJ, but that said, I have to wade in once more to ask a (tangentially related) follow-up question. I’ve been following along and I have to reiterate what catsix has asked…
Exactly where did she make any mentions of any of “her friends” in this, drachillix? As far as I’ve been able to read, she’s been adamant that this is only HER experience and nothing more. Furthermore, she’s said it again and again because you’ve claimed it yourself on more than one occasion and that’s been even after she clarified the first time. Then we she finally began to query the WHY of you constantly doing that, you ignored her to reply about something else. Is there a reason? Did you somehow overlook that aspect? I apologize if this rankles you, but it seems grossly unfair to level any ‘accusations,’ for lack of a better word, that have then been denied, only for that allegation to then be abandoned without proper due to the ‘defendee’ (again, for a lack of anything better I can think to use). Just sayin.’

IME at their place, which was several years ago as well (and possibly spurred by the same thread as catsix’s was), what I saw was much closer to catsix’s experience than drachillix’s. Just FWIW.

The scenario you’ve described is not at all the fantasy that original post described, which is what many sex offenders have of their victims. (How often have you heard child molesters claim their victims “wanted” it?)
The girl you’re talking about may have been promiscuous, but she was still an innocent victim of her own inexperience and lack of knowledge. Getting taken advantage of is one of the key learning experiences of growing up and learning to protect oneself. Unfortunately, nothing teaches better than pain. The way you describe her, it sounds like problems in adulthood were inevitable. It’s very sad, but hardly unique.
The explanation of how having dirty chat and driving to meet someone posing as an underage girl breaks the law has been made on this board many, many times. Have you really missed it all this time?
I find it comforting that these perverts ARE that stupid. At least some of them are getting caught. I have contributed to Perverted Justice and believe in what they are doing. I’d like to see a lot more of it.
Someone earlier in the thread said something (paraphrased) like they caught some innocent men as well. How so? How do you show up at a house looking for a 13 year old and even remotely be thought of as innocent?
As far as officially guilty by a court of law? I haven’t seen a show where they charge them, that happens after the fact once they’re turned over to the police.
As far as them being guilty by reason of common sense and my own eyes? Unless there is some sort of seriously talented CGI going on here, I can see (and so can the rest of us) with our OWN eyes these guys walking up to the house, often with bags of sex toys and condoms in hand, in the hopes of having sex with what they believe is an underaged girl.
Further, I can hear, with my own ears them admit this fact to whatsisface. I’ve encountered one of these morons in real life. My boss’s daughter used to hang out at our office after school. She would be online with her friends until her dad took her home at 5.
One afternoon she came in to my office and said “shoes? There’s this weird guy online that won’t leave me alone”. I went back and his chat log showed CLEARLY that he was in his 20s and knew for a fact that she was 14. He’d mentioned her age several times and was JUST starting into some sexual talk. He’d started with the “light stuff” like asking her how big her breasts were and such and what she was wearing and if she liked older guys.
I typed up a scathing reply, wish I’d have known about internet cops back then so I could have had him traced! GRRRrrrr
My misunderstanding then is that PJ operates an office near you guys if that is the case then my apologies. I was assuming her experiences were with some less formal gathering. Maybe I have just been lucky not to be around a bunch of frothing psychos and that the few I have met are best case scenarios.
I don’t know what his deal is, Garfield. I’ve repeatedly explained that I was talking about what I witnessed at Perverted Justice’s website in 2003, before they were ever on Dateline, and how I saw them carry out their ‘busts’.
It seems that drachillix is bound and determined to deny that what I personally saw had nothing to do with Perverted Justice in any possible way that he can, and now that you’ve said you had a similar experience, he’s going to act like it was you and me operating outside of Perverted Justice.
I never knew if there were any other SD members at PJ when I was there. I never said where I was from, and I used a different nickname, as I assume the rest of you did as well.
No its the a few bad apples dosen’t mean you toss the bushel and more than any other group of people. Just like not every member of PETA tosses kills animals and tosses them in dumpsters, not every pro lifer kills gyno’s that perform abortions, and not every christian wants homosexuals not to marry. The vast majority of PJ volunteers are not frothing lunatics, they are people who want to see the world a better safer place. If your experiences are otherwise, I am sorry to hear that, mine are not.
Demonize me if you want, but I am not out to get off on the misery of others, I would prefer to prevent it. I would be one of the first to step up and tell them to cut it out if I knew of another PJ volunteer actually operating the way she is claiming. Its stupid and counterproductive.
