Sony DVD RW DW-D56A
Hello, I have searched the web using Google, Microsoft, Sony and Vaio for fixes for this problem but I’ve found nothing that works so far.
I’ve also seach this board for the past hour.
The DVD drive will not recognise any discs other than a region free DVD.
The only changes that have ever been made to this drive is the region code from 2 to 1 to play a US disc I borrowed.
Now it won’r recognise audio CD, CD-Rom or region 2 DVD.
I still have several region changes available to me and I’ve tried changing it back but when prompted to insert region 2 media it can’t recognise it.
This 2 driver updates I tried from Dell said they were for different types of the 56A. The Vaio firmware update from PFS2 to PFS3 did nothing.
I’ve uninstalled the drive and the laptop reinstalled it automatically. According to Device Manager it is working fine.
The computer is a Sony Vaio Laptop PCG-K415S.
It is not connected to the net so any fixes need to be possible via usb disk drives transferred from this PC.
My computer knowhow is limited but I am good at following instructions.
