dvd to cd audio

I’m looking for software that will convert dvd music to cd audio so I can play in my car. No, my car radio does not play mp3s. I’ve asked at local area stores(Best Buy, Circuit City, etc) but they either say no that legally that software can’t be sold at stores. Or they send me to the Internet and I find literally dozens of software that claims do just that but alas does not. I really don’t want to spent hundreds of dollars on DVD equipment for the car when you can’t watch while you’re driving anyway. Any help would be nice. Thanks.

You can use Virtualdub to demux the audio track and save it as either an AVI audio file or a WAV file. Once it’s in WAV form, I’m pretty sure that Windows Media Player can convert it to CDA format, which is what a standard audio CD uses.

I can’t check right this minute because I just found out my WMP installation is screwed up. :smack:

I need something like that for a Mac.

I use Audio Hijack Pro to record the audio while playing the DVD in my Mac. Then I use Audacity to break it up into individual songs.

Nice. I was able to capture the clip I wanted from DVD. Only when tried to play the song using Audacity all I got was static. (The song is in mp4 format.)
