Specifically mentions new games which implies any unfinished projects really are dead.

DICE and Visceral do good work. Sounds more positive for the franchise than its previous license holders.
“Entirely original” sounds… risky.
If it were me, I’d start with a proven commodity to get the ball rolling with some momentum.
Actually I just want my Battlefront 3, dammit!
I would pay good money for Battlefield: Star Wars, Mass Effect: Star Wars and Dead Space: Star Wars.
DICE is already developing a Star Wars game using Battlefield’s Frostbite 2.0 engine. They won’t call it Battlefront 'cause that name has stigma, but it’ll probably be the same gist.
Stigma? I thought the Battlefront games were both awesome. My friends and I played the shit out of them back in the day.
On the plus side, this means that Bioware could now potentially develop more Star Wars RPGs.

I don’t know if they revive canceled projects but Battlefront 3 was near completion.
There’s no way it was “near completion” when it was canceled. Big “AAA” games like that are announced at least six months before they’re released to build up anticipation. Most are announced over a year ahead of time.
What little I have seen of Star Wars 1313 (which was apparently killed) it seemed to be Mass Effect: Star Wars.
I’d say it was closer to Uncharted: Star Wars.
This is the article I read.
The link to NowGamer gives more info. Related articles reveal that Lucasfilm requested a trademark extension for Battlefront. A New Hope!!
Of course the Lead Developer of the project would say it was almost complete and highly ambitious, etc, etc, etc. It’s in his best interests to say so. But that scenario flies in the face of how the game industry (and especially LucasArts, they announced stuff early all the time) operates.
Didn’t EA already do SW games? The Old Republic was them IIRC. Me, I’m hoping for KOTOR 3. Eff that MMO stuff.
They did do SWTOR. Ironically one of the things the article specifically mentions Disney is keeping is MMOs so I guess the next one wont be by them.
