As it turns out, I should be able to go in Saturday and pick up my copy anyway. But it should be noted that I don’t have the first weekend to pick it up. but only until closing of the first day it is available to pick it up.
Incidentally, I also have the option of going to the store any time after 9am Friday to pick up a wristband that will secure my place in line for the midnight handout. But I have no intention of trying to face the madhouse that I’m sure the store will be then.
I don’t remember what I paid for HP #6, but I know it was at a substantial discount. I think I did buy it within two weeks of the initial release.
My daughter is banking on it being a madhouse. She’ll be there with business cards in her pocket, wearing a Dobby hat and knitting another while her sister knits cell phone cozies in various house colors.
I like the way your daughters think, dropzone. I had a friend who used to sell hand-knitted scarves like the ones Tom Baker wore as Dr Who; she would go to science fiction conventions and sit in a relatively high-traffic area knitting them and taking orders.
There was a story on the news last night that a local couple received their pre-ordered HP from DeepDiscount.com on Tuesday. Apparently about 1200 (IIRC) books were mailed out early through a “clerical error”. They got a call from DeepDiscount asking them not no divulge the contents to anyone. Scholastic, Inc is suing the distributer for releasing the book early.
What’s the point of that? By the time the auction closes, the book will have been out for sale for several days.
The handful of Buy It Now listings I found say they’ll ship by Priority Mail on Sunday. Gee, you want $100, and I won’t get it until next Thursday? There is no Priority Mail pickup on Sunday, so it goes out on Monday. I’ll pass…
I’m not a Pottermaniac, but there is one in the house. I pre-ordered through Amazon back in March, and the book will magically appear sometime via UPS tomorrow without needing to stand in line or pay outrageous charges.
Indeed. I was (and still am) gonna borrow the books from a friend to read them, having had no exposure other than the movies. But since HP and the HBP hasn’t been filmed yet, I didn’t know that was going to happen. But thanks anyway to Tahssa for her contribution.
Me, me! I wanna sign up for a Tritium[sup]1[/sup] Membership.
Seriously. I saw the thread title and wondered to myself, “What the hell is a Hewlett-Packard Seven? And is it that much of an improvement over my ze4200?”
