Hallo, all;
I vividly remember, way back in the misty times of antiquity, reading an essay that somebody had written about the legendary SNES game ‘Earthbound,’ where he describes his feelings on playing the game and tries to analyze its content and nature.
I haven’t read it in at least 6 years, but I remember three things about it very specifically:
-
He explicitly compares the first four cities in it to the four years of an American high school.
-
He discusses how badly the final battle frightened him, and how he had to turn the game off afterwards (I think?)
-
When I first read it, it was hosted on a website that was officially about retro gaming, and moreover had a kind of red-and-black background with off-white text.
Does anybody else remember this? I’ve probably tried to find it four or five times in the past half-decade, and failed every time.
