Thanks for those Dopers who’ve asked after my family in Iran. I spoke to my uncle here in France, who rang Iran yesterday and everyone is fine. Most of the family is in Tehran, which only got small aftershocks. Some people had gone away for the weekend to the Caspian Sea or to the Aalborz mountains but they were safe, as well.

There was a larger earthquake in the early 90’s (1990?) which was in fact in the region of Iran where my family lives. Fortunately, then, all of them were safe and sound.
