I agree with the OP. The science was so bad, as in most of the Sci-Fi Channel movies, that all you can do is laugh. It followed such a regular pattern for such movies as well, happy ending and all.
I had a feeling from the commercials it was going to be that bad. I DVR’d it last night but haven’t gotten around to watching it yet. I’ll probably watch it sometime anyway. After I get over my annoyance of how SciFi Channel kept running promos for it over the broadcast of “Special Unit 2”, which I was recording because I hadn’t recorded it when it had first aired.
I agree, this was one of the worst I’ve seen. I’ve come to have low expectations from the sci-fi channel, but jeesh, with this one they didn’t even try. It wasn’t just the science, but the regular stuff too.
It started right from the beginning. They are demolishing a building and some of the charges go off prematurely. Better rush back in and replace them! Why? Whatever support was supposed to be destroyed is gone now. When we see inside the building, we see that the explosives are double sided taped to the sheetrock. Didn’t they at least watch one documentary on demolishing buildings?
In this movie the space shuttle flies like a jet through space, including jet noises, and they collide with huge asteroids at 22,000+ miles an hour without damage.
These are not all or even the worst examples, they are just the ones that came to mind. On average, every thirty seconds or so something will happen that makes you say WTF?
