Easiest way to rip an unencrypted DVD?

I have acquired some DVDs of home movies from my in-laws. I would like to copy the video to my computer and edit it using Adobe Premiere. What’s the easiest way to get the video onto my computer? I’d like to avoid DivX and Xvid if at all possible.

I’ve looked at Gordian Knot, but couldn’t get it to work correctly. AutoGK only works with Xvid, and Premiere doesn’t seem to be able to read the resultant files.

TIA!

Try DVDx. It should allow you to rip to any codec installed on your system.

AfterDawn.com has a ton of other rippers available if that one doesn’t fit your needs.

Awesome. Thanks!

Sure.

And sorry, the DVDx link I gave you required you to pay to download the program. You can download it for free by choosing a SourceForge mirror.

(The program is freeware, but that first site asks you to pay for downloads to help offset bandwidth costs.)
