"Easy Virtue" with Jessica Biels, Colin Firth

I saw Easy Virtue yesterday. It was enjoyable enough with some funny lines and situations, and with enough droll, snarky comments to satisfy.

Overall, I’d give it a “B”. What did everyone else think?

There was one plot point that I didn’t understand, however.

Why did Larita (Jessica Biels) hand the Butler a check at the end of the movie? Was it just a tip? Was it to pay for the broken statue? Or was there some deeper conspiracy that I didn’t get?

J.

Saw it last night also, and enjoyed it – somewhat. Given its Noel Coward provenance, I was expecting way more snappy banter than I got.

Re your question (which I’m not sure needed to be spoilered, since it was a small point at the end, but since you spoilered it, I will too):

Just a tip, I think. It would be traditional to give monetary gifts to members of the household staff who had been helpful to you, as the butler definitely was.
