eating outside = better taste? & chocolate-medicine interactions

I heard from my sister(probably not graduated medic from prestigious university) that eating outdoors leads to a better sense of taste, because somehow the higher amount oxygen frees up your lungs or nose and provides better taste? I also tested this: of course, food had richer taste-- but possibly, this is just a placebo effect. curious to hear from you intelligent dopers what are your opinions on this

second question is that my mother never ever let me eat chocolate when i was on antibiotics like penicillin and whatnot, since it supposedly “strained my liver” or something. i still don’t. myth or truth? i always wanted to eat entire bars of lindt 85% after ten days of not even thinking about chocolate.

thanks, lovelies; you seem like a smart bunch

I’m not convinced there is more oxygen outside my home than in my dining room. especially in the summer (when I’m likely to be eating outside) since all the doors are usually open. I never noticed a different taste, but the view is different. And I can throw stuff on the ground if I want.

I much prefer eating inside to eating outside, and I have never noticed this, for what it’s worth. Although that might have more to do with the fact that I just plain prefer being inside.
