Recently my college has had a bit of an uproar regarding the drug MDMA. Unfortunately reliable sources of information have been few and far between. What are the negative side effects(in fact, what are the overall effects) of this drug?
(If possible I would appreciate sources along with whatever information-the “reefer madness” studies so often cited in response to questions about marijuana have left me slightly skeptical about government sponsored research into illegal drugs)

Here is a website that seems to have some reasonably balanced info on the drug. One thing it doesn’t mention that I think is a problem with it is inducing brain damage similar to Parkinson’s. But I may be confusing MDMA with some other designer drug.

Thank you very much, I hope that the information contained in that FAQ(which seems pretty unbiased and accurate) will help with some of the more wild rumors that have been circulating. As for the damage being similar to parkinsons, the FAQ does mention neurotoxicity, but doesn’t mention exactly what sort of damage it causes, so it’s quite possible that that is the end result.
