Apparently, Ed don’t like me.
It was my personal e-mail list, not specific to the Straight Dope; a number of people I know through the Straight Dope happened to be on it. It may well have gone out to thousands of people. I have no obvious way to “send to all” - I’m a primitive in these matters and still use AOL. From experiment it appears I can send to blocks of a few hundred names at a time, and I should probably do so. (If someone knows a better way to do this, please advise.) I fear, however, that the worst of the damage has been done.
I wouldn’t worry that much about it. You got hacked, most people will likely recognize the spam for what it is. No big deal. Coulda happened to anybody.
Yep. I got one of those, thankfully I’m immediately distrustful of anytime Zotti tries to play to my emotions. As soon as as I saw the “Ed Zotti might think you said no”, it was on!

I automatically delete anything in my Inbox that looks the least bit suspicious. I figure if it’s important, there are other ways to contact me.
