“On the DL” is apparently a term that doesn’t translate well into WASP vernacular. Here’s an exchange from an “ER” ep from a few years ago:
Background: Dr. Carter and Nurse Abby are talking to CC, who is HIV+ (“He’s got the ‘high five.’”) CC’s friend Diamond Z has just left the ER (banged-up leg or something) with his girlfriend Aisha. Carter and Abby start to realize there’s a lot more going on in this relationship that was obvious at first.
CC: Diamond only gives. I told him “Wear a rubber, anyway.” He said, “*Before???” It wasn’t sex to him. He’s on the DL.
Abby: Uh. . . the “DL?”
CC: See. . . he ain’t gay. You can’t be a faggot and be legit. He only does guys, ‘cause. . . women can be so stressful.
Carter: Does Aisha know about this?
CC: (shrugs) I was just keepin’ it goin’, waitin’ for the day he’d come around and get real.
(Carter and Abby exit, continuing the conversation)
Abby: The “DL” is. . . bisexual?
Carter: No, on the side. It’s a secret.
Abby: [So] in the closet.

I don’t see this. A transvestite is man, so a man attracted to transvestites (assuming he knows it’s a transvestite) is attracted to men. Maybe only this particular type of man, but men nonetheless. That’s the opposite of straight.

They are all Eddie and Nicole’s kids. They had already had several kids together when they finally got married. They’ve been together since back in the 1980’s.

Speaking of the “DL”… That is exactly why I abhor those Comedy Central(?) commercials spouting about “Spending the weekend on the DL!” as a promo for the D.L. Hughley show. I would probably watch the show, but after that into, no thanks. = )
Back to the OP, actually I didn’t even know Eddie was married. I love his act stuff like Delirious (release it on DVD dammit) and Raw, but I generally haven’t watched anything from him since Beverly Hills Cop (Shrek doesn’t count). Hard luck for him, hope it all works out.
Well, the latest rumors have him hooking up with Mariah Carey …
