If you hadn’t said it, I was going to.
Yeah, I know, I have heard it in both contexts, but either way, I prolly wouldn 't watch the show because I heard it sucks.
I should probably start a GD thread on this, but why is the “DL” associated only with blacks and not whites? Is it more prevalent in one and not the other? Do Whiteys have a term that means something similar that I’m not aware of? Or is it just unspoken among friends?
Squee. I don’t see what’s there to debate. Down low was popularized in a song by black singer R. Kelly nearly 10 years ago and the book, On The Down Low co-opted the phrase to mean secret bisexuality by gay black writer J.L. King last year. It’s not that the activity is more prevelant with blacks, just that hip-hop culture put a name to it first. Similar to the late night begging for sex telephone communication known as the “booty call.” Everybody does it, African-Americans named it.
I just saw Eddie on the cover of the African Enquirer. He was looking like this: “mmph?”
I’m not saying it’s more prevalent, since my question. Many African-American sayings make it into popular society via music… are you down with OPP (Well you know Squee!). I guess why I was asking why it’s so “out there” in the black community. Anglos, Hispanics, etc might have a similar term, but I haven’t heard it, even if it is as prevalent. That was my question.
Ewwww. I don’t know whose getting the worst of that.
I… don’t get it.
The stripy lycra bodysuit he wore as the arsehole one in The Nutty Professor lends a certain support to this theory.
Then you…need to run to Blockbuster tonight.
So he was Wookin’ Pa Nub in all the wrong places?
