In four weeks from today I’m gonna be returning to Ireland. I and a friend shall be there between May 8th and May 18th. We now have the places we shall be staying at for the most part so if anyone lives in any of these areas let me know and we can have a pint.
Here’s my schedule:
May 8th, land in Shannon, get car make way to Bunratty Castle then on to Limerick where I used to live. Probably get a few hours of sleep then out on the town.
May 9th, head for Cork with a stop a Lough Gur on the way. I will be swimming at the May Irish Open in Cork on the 9th and 10th. If anyone happens to be a swimmer and will be there look for the tall 'merican, with long hair and tattoos.
May 10th is in Cork with the swim meet and some sight seeing etc.
May 11th is off to Dingle, with a stop at Blarney if we haven’t already. Don’t have any plans for Dingle except for a possible Archaeology tour. (see a pattern yet?)
May 12th is a day off, well there are no plans except to gradually make our way to Dublin.
May 13-15 we will be in Dublin. I have no idea where we will be staying just yet, it will either be in Dun Laoghaire or Sutton, Dun Laoghaire is the most probable. There are no real plans for this, but we will probably see Trinity college. I also hope to get a round of golf in on Wednesday is anyone would like to join me or at least knows of a good place to go that will rent me clubs.
May 15th we leave Dublin and make our way to see Newgrange, of which from another thread I have found out we can go inside
May 15-16, there are no plans, we have been talking about making it to the Giant’s Causeway if there is time, it looks like a long haul to make it as we want to make it to Galway by the night of the 16th, a Friday.
May 17th, from Galway to Limerick. We will be seeing the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren. We are staying in the same place in Limerick on our last night.
So that’s it, if anyone has any ideas of what to see on the way from Dingle to Dublin let me know. Plus if anyone knows how far it would be from Newgrange to Giant’s Causeway then to Galway that would be nice too. Or if not that, then anything to see between Dublin and Galway. Getting together for a few hours in a Dublin pub would be great too. Or any other pub for that matter!
I will also be looking for good used book stores, especially ones that deal with Irish Archaeology. My friend is also intersted in seeing any kind of Hurling and/or Galic football matches if they are being played at this time.
