Arrgh! We’ve got the run-through for the lighting designer 12 - 5 on Sat., Oct. 15th. I can make it for breakfast/early lunch, but I’ve got to be at the Jube for 12N.
Alberta dopefest in Calgary? Why I’d love to attend. Wha? What do you mean my reading comprehension is lacking?
Probably unlikely in my case, unless I drive all night. Right now, it looks as if I’ll be busy until at least 10 Friday night, and I can’t get a flight until Saturday morning. Even then, it gets me into the International, which is another 45 minutes to downtown. So an overnight, five-hour drive is my only option to get into Edmonton for anything resembling breakfast/early lunch.
Should things change (as in, maybe I don’t have the Friday night obligation), I’ll let you all know. But perhaps best not to count on me for now.
It certainly seems like Calgary would be a more logical place for a full scale Alberta Dopefest. I’m still trying to iron out some means of getting down to Calgary - at present, the Sunday/Monday of Oct. 24th/25th look most likely for me. I’m not sure how that fits for anyone else…
Getting to have breakfast/lunch/coffee with Cat Whisperer and Dread Pirate Jimbo in Edmonton would just be a massively cool bonus.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Okay, how about 11:00 am for early lunch, at some place close to the Jube?
Or, I was thinking, how about brunch (10, 10:30)? I never think of brunch.
Brunch would be ideal, thanks - I’ll have a look at Hudson’s and the High Level Diner on my way to rehearsal today, see when they’re open of a Saturday.
Right - here are my two best ideas for this coming Saturday, Oct. 16th. Either the Sugar Bowl (10922 88 Ave.) or the High Level Diner (10912 88th Ave.) would be my suggestions. The Sugar Bowl is less likely to be crowded. 10 AM? Let me know…
And secondly, I’m currently planning on coming down to Calgary on Sunday, October 24th, probably arriving 12 Noon or so, and leaving back for Edmonton around 8 PM. I’m renting a car, and FloatyGimpy will come along if it works with her schedule. How about a Calgary/southern Alberta Dopefest, or at least some good food and some drinks? Let me know if that works out with your schedules, ye Calgary/Lethbridge Dopers…
The Sugar Bowl sounds good - I remember why I always forget about brunch - Jim doesn’t eat eggs, so we never go for brunch. The Sugar Bowl has a couple of good eggless choices for him.
So, Sugar Bowl at 10:00 AM? We have a date?
Splendid! See you then; I’m very much looking forward to meeting you both.
I’d like to meet all you strange people, er, great friends, uh, internet acquaint . . . Yeah, I’d like to attend if the schedule allows. If I get it on the calendar now I might not have to go to the in-laws.
The Sugar Bowl is nice; I went there a couple of times when I was a student at the U of A.
The 24th in Calgary sounds doable as well. Has anybody got any ideas for the “where and when” up there yet?
The 24th is doable for us, too, except we have a dance class at 1 pm. We’re free again after 2:30.
We’re about to hit the highway - fingers crossed that we’ll drive out of the snow.
See you tomorrow, Ministre and anyone else who wants to show up!
I’m planning on being there.
Good, good - the more the merrier.
So, how will we know you guys? Jim and I will be the dark-haired, middle-aged people who are looking like they’re looking for someone.
We’ll be the cool people.
I hear that the Sugar Bowl is a hang-out place for college students, so you might need to narrow that down.
Well, Cat, you should be easy to find, as you’ll be the only two who aren’t reading Shakespeare, studying physics textbooks, or reviewing global warming information.
Well, I look a lot like this, so I’ll be somewhat easy to spot. I’ve met FloatyGimpy in real life, so it’s just the mystery of Cat Whisperer and the Dread Pirate Jimbo. If I can, I’ll make a reservation under the name of Cecil Adams, though I’m not smart enough to sustain that secret identity for long.
See you soon.
And we’ll be wearing pants that cover our asses AND our legs, and proper footwear.
