Egg on your face!

How did it happen to you?
It happened to me thankfully no injuries because it was hot egg on my face, in my hair with egg chunks on the counter.

I took from the fridge a leftover previously poached egg to reheat in the microwave to use on a baked potato. I zapped the egg in a glass ramekin for 30 seconds. When it was reheated I stuck a knife in the whites and it exploded! Everywhere! Just the egg not the glass, I was a little shocked, concerned I might be injured but it was okay.

I’m on my iPad rn it’s tortuous writing this out, windows closing grrr

Biting into a fried egg sandwich and hot yolk runs down your chin.

That’s expected, and a sign of a yummy fried egg Sammy

It’s actually a mixture of yolk, mayo and sriracha and gloriously gooey.

Mayo, chili crisp oil and honey!

Still the butter knife sparking an eggsplosion
Made my day, I’ll never do that again, what did I do. :face_with_raised_eyebrow::bomb:

You know that trick where you can squeeze an egg really hard and it won’t break…it broke. To make it worse, for whatever reason I was in a (work) vehicle when it happened and good amount of it ended up on the dashboard and down the vents.

Wasn’t egg-zactly on my face but I was weeding out a flower bed with a poker/puller thingy and it found an old rotted, hidden and never found Easter egg from by gone days.

Oh boy that was nasty.

The smell felt like it stuck to my skin even though I never touched it. It was that heavy.

p.s. glad you weren’t injured.

If I had paid closer attention in consumer Chemistry class in HS would I might’ve been able to avoid these minor explosions, it happened again!

Ice cubes in my drink exploded last night. Oh no not a little crackling crack, but a loud POW sending shards of ice about the room followed by a wispy trail of smoke like ether rising from the glass. thank god my face was not in it.

Oh and I set the sub buns on fire, not what you think, I didn’t forget them under the broiler, I just spritzed them with a little lemon juice and slid them back under the flame and they caught fire, lemon juice is flammable I guess I shoulda known.

Wait maybe I have latent superpowers coming to light my ass on fire or explode it.

If it’s in my sandwich, it better be fried hard, with the yolk broken. Went to a restaurant in NY a few years ago; they offered a hamburger with a fried egg on it. Never even occurred to me that there might be a liquid yolk, so when I took my first bite I got it all over my beard and my shirt.

Fried egg on a hamburger, never got the appeal of that trend to plop an egg on top of everything. Especially if it includes the usual tomato lettuce onion pickles on the burger too. A med rare burger on a toasted bun with a yolky fried egg maybe a bit of red sauce only, no veg. . That’d be good.

Sat night, I was hungry & wanted a snack; oooh, look, an unopened box of PopTarts. I opened the box, opened the foil two-pack, pull one out & put it in the microwave but pull it out at about 12 seconds, which I have learned is the magic point for sticky buns & caramelized sugar to be warm but not scalding. Nope, when I bit into it, whatever goop was on the inside welded itself to my lip & Could. Not. Be. Removed! Not with my tongue, not with a finger. It literally burned my lip which now has a scab on it; looks like I got punched in the mouth.

I’ll take an egg on my burger before I’ll ever take a tomato slice, or even a pickle. Pickles should be cold. I can eat a spear along side a burger but don’t like 'em on a burger. As for tomatoes, there’s a very good reason they are the same color as the devil.
Also, you spelled medium -well wrong.
Finally, what do you mean by red sauce, like tomato sauce with eggs??? or are you talking something more like Tobasco sauce?

ketchup or hot sauce, marinara not too far fetched

Hot jam dangerous! Almost as bad as a hot cheese in yer face.

Heathen!

Wow. Dangerous!

A diner in Lafayette IN used to offer a sandwich like this:

  • toast
  • bacon
  • fried egg
  • toast
  • tomato
  • lettuce
  • more bacon (? – not sure on this bit; it’s been 37 years)
  • hamburger patty
  • toast

Video, or it didn’t happen.

Get rid of the “medium” part and I’ll agree with you.

I like how the egg is snug against the bacon and toast with the BLT on top , sounds good! I might have made that before I’m sure. Triple toast, can’t leave one slice left in the bag!

Growing up mostly on the East Coast with a little Midwest thrown in for good measure, I agreed with that. But after years in Southeast Asia and Hawai’i, it makes sense to me now even if it’s not a personal favorite.

I’ve always thought the popularity of adding an egg is due to the fact that it is a relatively cheap and easy way to add protein to a meal. Indonesia’s common down-home dish (think pizza, a hamburger or spaghetti in the US) is nasi goreng - fried rice. Nasi goreng istimewa (special fried rice) is fried rice with an egg on top.

Still, I’m not sure you need the extra protein on a hamburger patty! I wouldn’t do it myself.

I like to watch street cooking on YT, usually Asia or India and eggs are used a lot! Big bowls of eggs, mixed up then poured on hot griddles with a variety of add ins fried flipped sauced and served. Looks amazing.
