I found a gag gift egg seperator shaped like a cartoon head- you put the egg in a hole at the top and the whites oozed out of the nostrils. It got me wondering- how biologically similar is mucus to egg whites? Can you make an “omlette” out of it?
Dear God… yuk… I’m not sure of the exact compostion, but here’s what I remember from my human anatomy classes:
Mucus is a non-soluble (mostly) substance which the body secretes to protect surfaces which are vulnerable to irritation or acid: stomach lining, nasal passages, sinus cavities, etc
Egg whites are the same kind of fluid which suspends a baby during pregnancy. It’s generated to protect the baby, but also to carry certain nutrients and hydration. Its protective function is kinetic rather than chemical, so it’s entirely different.
Frankly, I’m kind of disturbed by the idea of snot omelettes. You, sir, should get out more.

Lower your cholesterol and your appetite at the same time…
How in God’s name do you expect to get enough to make an omelette?
And for those of us who need help with our cervical mucus…you can also use egg whites to…um…you know.
Sorry, I know…TMI!
Note to self: never let namowal cook you breakfast.
