Eh. . . any opinions on digital (or other) bathroom scales?

Any opinions on how reliable/accurate they are? Ideally, I’d prefer a balance beam type, but that appears to be a good bit more than what I’d prefer to spend.

I have one of the old-timey flat analog bathroom scales, but it bothers me that my weight can shift two-three pounds just by shifting my weight (don’t know if age is a problem, but it’s about 25 years old).

My one digital bathroom scale purchase (1986) was not very encouraging, so far as reliability of the numbers. It might give several pounds difference within an hour (with no change in intake or elimination)—and it might give a 10-pound difference between morning and night. My top weight during that time was about 220, so that difference was just not happening. Especially since the analog scale showed pretty much the same results between morning and night.

Anyway, I was not exactly impressed with my first digital purchase, and was looking to replace my rusting scale. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I’ve had a Tanita for years, and it’s dead-on accurate. If I weigh myself three times in a row, it’s going to be identical (or within a half pound) all three times.

I strongly recommend Health o Meter scales. Even the low cost digital models are very reliable and consistent.

Mine is also a Tanita, and I’ve been very happy with it. Same level of accuracy as above, and I’ve had it for 5-ish years now.
