Yeah, I agree with that. However, the link I clicked on on their site said “Free Personality Profile” not “Sign up for our dating service”. I only wanted to see what the personality profile said. I even checked the box that said “don’t send me any matches”.

I think they should tell you up front if you aren’t allowed to take the personality profile for its own sake.

BTW, here in Northern VA they advertise on TV also, and they push the “get your free personality profile” aspect in their commercials.

I once did the ‘free’ thing on a dating site, and I got a reply from someone near me. (but i was living in Dallas county at the time) She emailed me and said: “I paid $xx.xx to get a chance to meet you because I really liked your profile” I saw her profile, i didn’t like it… but i felt sorry for her and went on a date anyway. I acted like a real jerk and made her pay for the meal too. Now that she was mad at me, she broke it off before it really got off the ground.

Okay, so i wasn’t really a jerk, i was a clown with the waitress, and it was not a real expensive joint.

tarragon - 51, huh? I’m weeks away from the big 5-0. (How the heck did that get here so soon? Seems just yesterday I was in my mid-30s.) And I’m not the only MAD - Mid-Atlantic Doper, that is - in that age range. So you’ll have people your own age to talk to if you should come to one of our get-togethers.

Yogini and FCM - there was some talk in this thread about a get-together the weekend of 2/28 to coincide with the FL Strawberry Festival. I won’t promise it’ll be big, but at the very least, I want to get together with the Bluesclan while I’m down there. Exact date and time TBA, location TBA (it may or may not be a StrawberryDopeFest), but watch this space for developments.
