Eight pm. Dinner is put away. If you sit down, is your evening lost?

The lady in the OP describes me pretty well. On days that I do allow myself to turn on the TV or sit down after 8:30 or 9, that’s with the understanding that I’m done for the night. Most nights, particularly when I’m putting my son to bed, don’t start until 8:30 or 9. After I’ve determined that my son will stay put, it’s time to work out, clean, pay bills, work on personal projects and sometimes, if I’m not organized enough to do it at the same time as my son is eating, to make dinner for me and my husband. So, nights when I put my son to bed might go: make dinner, eat, clean up dishes, work out, shower, tidy up, throw a load of laundry in, pay some bills, then if it’s still early enough cruise around online and go to bed.

On nights when I don’t put my son to bed, all this stuff moves up about an hour and I can spend the extra hour working on pet projects or relaxing. Pet projects usually win out because time is at a premium and I don’t feel I get a lot of benefit from the TV. Of course, whether I’m putting my son to bed or not, it’s always with the understanding that my husband and I will make time to sit down and relax with each other with the TV off because he gets totally hypnotized by it and loses the ability to participate in conversation. Bedtime is usually around 11:30 for me and wakeup anytime between 6 and 6:30.
