I’m watching the coolest heat lightning show I’ve ever seen. Low hanging cloud cover in the Northeast, no thunder, air definitely smells of coming rain. White/silvery flashes lighting up the clouds. Uber cool. If I could smoke anything groovier than Doral Light 100s, I’d put on some Doors…Riders on the Storm, light some incense, and enjoy it on a completely different level…
I grew up in Nawth Cawlina, on the mainland, just where the outer banks arc back into toward the shore. I remember a massive thunderstorm coming in from the ocean once, and as the storm front hit the shore we could see bolt after bolt of lightning striking the islands. I glanced at my sister and noticed that we were both hunched in atavistic terror and awe.
Of course, if Caprica Six wants to seduce me for access to the Dope, that’s cool too.
Soul mate! (Well, more than a few years ago, anyway.)
Reminds me of when I did a solo backpacking trip on Assateague Island. As night fell, the whole sky was lit with constant, silent flashes of heat lightning, and there was no other light anywhere… it was the most uncanny thing I had ever seen. When I finally lit my little campfire, I don’t think I’ve ever felt so comforted by anything – it was like I was regaining my sanity.
Oh, I love the lightning. I expect I’ll die messing around out in a rainstorm someday.
Lightning is the decorating scheme in my cubicle at work (well, that and kitty cats). Some of the pictures that brighten my day:

Cool pictures.
I’m not convinced it wasn’t a Cylon raid though. My favorite radio station…the local sports talk one…seems to be off the air. I blame Boomer.
Baltar!
