I’m thinking of getting Oblivion Remastered for my Steam Deck. There’s one problem in particular that the original had, however, and I’m wondering if this Remastered edition has done anything to fix it. Named NPCs could die random deaths (I saw one killed by bear in the wilderness, and another that fell from a high building, in Skingrad IIRC), and these deaths would be permanent. This would present problems for some quests if the NPC in question was part of a side quest, or even if they were just a shopkeeper selling some nice items. Has this been fixed for the remastered version?
As far as I can tell, it’s the same issue in the remaster, since it wasn’t really considered a bug. Especially with the world leveling with you, enemies could easily become powerful enough to whack NPCs in their range, especially (if you like me) take a long time exploring and leveling before you do much main story content.
If you were playing on PC, I’d of course say “there’s a mod for that” but I can’t say what your options are on a Steam Deck.
Said information provided by my friends who have already bought and played the Remaster, I’m waiting for a noticeable drop in price, so second hand information to be sure.
The Steam Deck should have the same mod support as the normal PC version. Rather than a mod, if you needed to fix such a scenario, you could use console commands to revive the NPC. You shouldn’t worried too much about it.
