Electing members of sexist organizations?

Do good members of society have a duty to denounce members of bigoted, anti-woman organizations–like the Catholic or Mormon Churches–who run for office? Should members of the media ask Newt Gingrich why he joined an organization that has old male virgins tell women what women should with their bodies?

There’s not much point since anyone else is pretty much unelectable in this country.

He’d say “What? I’ve been a Republican for decades!”

I see we have a little vendetta going on. I know lots of women who are members of the Catholic church. Try again.

I suspect if a reporter asked such a question of either Gingrich or Romney most people would conclude the question said more about the reporter than about either Gingrich or Romney.

I myself get offended when people ask me if I hate Jews.

I always say of course not. Who else am I going to have do my taxes.

UM belonging to an organisation should not preclude you from office if enough people agree with you.

Know any who are allowed to lead the church?

Do good people have a duty to denounce the sexist bigots?

Tradition calls for men to “lead the church”. It is what it is. I think anyone who wants to go through the process should be welcomed to lead it. I guess you think the Freemasons and also sexist because they don;t allow women to join at all. We never had a woman “lead the country” here in the USA. Guess we’re all sexist.

A woman can be elected to any office in the US, which is a change of past tradition. No good person claim the Catholic Church is anything other than a vile sexist organization. They won’t even let a woman be a parish priest.

That doesn’t make it any less anti-women. Women have an unfortunate long standing habit of supporting or even running anti-women organizations & movements.

Good people have the duty to denounce religious bigots, too.

Maybe, but who says a bigot can’t make a good politician?

Given the nature of the thread you need to clarify that. Do you mean people who are bigoted against a religion, or religious people who are bigots?

Do you just hate the Catholic and Mormon churches? Or are there any others we should watch out for?

ETA: Good luck with your tirade. Maybe you can get some like-minded folks together and form a PAC.

How about all of them?

We know your opinion. You don’t exactly hide your light under a bushel you know.

Whoops, Bible parable. Sorry.

I don’t know about the Catholic church, but there’s this one chick in Britain who’s the leader of an entire church.

Good thing those dumb bitches have a man like you around to tell 'em what’s good for them, eh?

And who am I telling what to do?

Good people occasionally have a duty to do nothing, because evil needs to triumph a little every once in a while–else it will have esteem issues later in life.
