A few days after the elections and a few races seem to not have a definite winner declared as of yet. A couple races are slated for a run off. Perhaps some are just too close to call.
President
Though the overall winner of the electoral vote seems settled, a couple states are still listed as uncalled at the moment.
MI - with 16 electoral votes, Trump holds a lead.
NH - with 4 electoral votes, Clinton holds a lead.
US Senate
LA - a runoff will settle the race as no candidate reached 50% as required under Louisiana law. With multiple candidates from each major party, the vote was split about 61% Republican to 34% Democratic, with a long list of other candidates soaking up the difference.
The two leading candidates, John Kennedy ® and Foster Campbell (D) will square off on December 10 in the runoff election. A win by Kennedy would give a 52 seat majority to the Republicans, a tiny bit of breathing room to allow for an occasional defector or two.
US House of Representatives
CA 07 - Ami Bera (D) holds a narrow lead over Scott Jones ® in this district centered around eastern Sacramento County.
CA 49 - Darrell Issa ® holds a narrow lead over Doug Applegate (D) in this district centered around northern San Diego County and encompassing the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.
LA 03 - Like the US Senate race, no candidate reached the 50% mark as required in the jungle primary system used in Louisiana. The two top candidates Scott Angelle ® and Clay Higgins ® will square off in the December 10 run off. Regardless, this seat stays in Republican control. This district covers south central to southwestern parts of Louisiana.
LA 04 - This is another race in which no candidate reached 50% in Tuesday’s voting. Marshall Jones (D) polled the most support at 28% and will face Mike Johnson who polled 25%. However roughly 71% of the vote was split among several Republican candidates while Jones didn’t face such opposition from within his party. This district covers northwest and west central parts of the state and has been represented by a Republican in Congress going back many years.
Governors
NC - Roy Cooper (D) holds a narrow lead over Pat McCrory ® in the ongoing count. This one may go down to the absentee and overseas ballots.
And doubtlessly there are many state or local elections that may not quite be settled yet. Whether the race was too close to call, or the voters elected a dead candidate, the political maneuverings will continue for a while yet.
