Election Day Omnibus thread

Exactly. I am not even one thinks that no one engages in identity politics from the left. The Democrats aren’t one of them. For instance, a Republican pundit at one point claimed that the Democrats think America is a racist country. Kamala went out point blank and said “America is not a racist country”. I’m not even sure I would put it that bluntly, but she’s the politician. What could she have said in this instance to change peoples minds? There are plenty of people who are all about racism racism racism everywhere. It’s not like I can’t recognize it. It’s just not coming from Democratic politicians.

Now it’s just a question of how big the Republican Senate majority will get. If Trump does win tonight, he’ll have a free hand to push through whatever hard right judges and executive appointments he wants. I fully expect Clarence Thomas to step down at the end of this Supreme Court term.

Hillary was at ~90% at one point in 16.

It’s not a projection @Smapti - it’s just counting the votes. I really hope you are right, but there is absolutely no reason to think there are some miraculous votes that are going to appear.

The same thing happened (in reverse) in 2020. Trump was winning, but the county-by-county numbers made it very clear that Biden was likely to pull ahead. Right now almost every county that has finished counting has been running worse than 2020.

We will know soon, because the Philly votes will come in soon and then PA will probably put this to bed.

I figured the attack on education that CRT brings about would venn with that, perhaps a bit tangentially, to be sure.

/bit hi-jack-y, though

11:55 pm is the rumour for penns.

Not on election night, she wasn’t. Started behind and got even further behind as the night progressed.

Not on election night she wasn’t. We knew she had lost before midnight Central, if I recall correctly. I certainly remember not being able to fall asleep I was so upset at the result.

Look, I really hope there is some miracle. But right now we need three of them - PA, WI, and MI.

I know, but it’s not looking good anywhere. I’m still nauseously optimistic. Heavy emphases on nauseously!

I’m gonna have to sleep. :crossed_fingers:

Looks like Mo Green is holding on to a lead for NC Superintendent of Public Instruction. (He’s up against a home schooler who thinks public schools are cesspools of indoctrination or something.)

The Florida numbers are crazy. The more Hispanic a county, the more it moved towards Trump.

Those that are 50%+ Hispanic moved on average by 18 points towards Trump.

This is a pattern we’ve seen repeat over and over.

Republicans wreck the economy and the infrastructure of government. It takes a few years for this effect to be seen. Democrats get blamed. Republicans gloat about how bad the problems they caused are, and how they’re all the faults of the democrats. Republicans get re-elected to repeat the cycle.

You can say it’s misogyny and/or racism if Harris loses. I don’t think it is. I think she was unpopular in 2019 except for the K-Hive, made more obvious since she couldn’t make it to Iowa in 2020, was picked in part as a concession to Jim Clyburn to get Biden the nomination, and was unpopular as VP for the last three plus years. There was that discussion on whether or not she should have gone to Texas to do the Rogan podcast, and frankly, considering how terrible she is at public speaking, she would have done terribly trying to speak extemporaneously for three hours on that. She never had a good pitch for her candidacy.

You’re very kind. I just can’t take it in.

And I can’t stop thinking about those secret phone calls Trump and Elon Musk were having with Putin.

Yeah, hear ya, indeed.

Will hold out at least for another half hour.

Compared to, checking my notes, TRUMP?!?!?!?

I guess if nutty conspiracy theories is a good pitch for a POTUS candidacy, Trump had that locked up! Also, incoherent “weaves”? Yep, he’s got that to.

But Trump is Trump. We should expect that he is terrible.

We did, but he was one of the most charismatic politicians we’ve ever seen and he still had to overcome the obstacle of being black to get elected. It was still a disadvantage. Kamala is not as good a candidate as Obama was, and both factors (black and woman) were working against her.

He went and did it. He’s a constant spew of random crap too, but he went and did it. And his pitch was simple. Biden sucks, the economy sucks, the border sucks, and I can make it better.
