This country is irredeemable. Even if I lived another 50 years, I will not think positively about it or its people again. Yes, I know, we had anti-humanist structures that were objectively worse like slavery and segregation, but that was dragging ourselves out of conservatism from a much harsher world. This, though, is a regression. This is being (relatively) free of such evil and gleefully leaning back into it on the backs of one of the most bizarre and least competent leaders the world has ever seen. We will be surrounded by people who define themselves by spite and hate and who shape their own reality however they wish no matter how absurd. This is a black mark that this country will never fade.

It doesn’t have to be a white male candidate. But you have to give men something. Title IX, for example, was passed when the male/female split in higher education was smaller than it is now. But it was a problem when women weren’t going to college but it’s not a problem when men aren’t going to college in a greater ratio than women were 50 years ago.
I’m wondering, if he wins (there’s still hope he doesn’t, as I type this), and people of all stripes see that he cannot end Ukraine-Russia in 24 hours, or Israel-Gaza-Hezbollah in 24 hours, or continues to have vague thoughts about concepts of ideas of a plan to replace Obamacare, what will they think? Of course, we’re going to say, “We told you so,” but what will they say?
