I’d actually argue that more populism is simply popular. We’re not getting rid of MFN trade status with China, but free trade is clearly becoming more and more unpopular. Getting rid of most of Walmart’s and Dollar Tree’s inventory might be rather popular.
He’s not the sitting president yet. He won’t be until January, if he wins.
“It’s the economy, stupid”. There have been plenty of voices pointing out that the headwinds Harris was facing were very strong. Incumbent parties have been getting voted out everywhere. Joe Biden is very unpopular. Economic sentiment is horrible.

I feel like I’m in the movie, “The Producers.” Just in the past month he danced on -stage to Ave Maria for 40 minutes, called Puerto Rico, “garbage”, and fellated a microphone. Where did he go right?
Indeed. The war in Ukraine might have been my #2 issue as a voter. If Putin ethnically cleanses the Ukrainians, each Trump voter will be individually responsible in my mind. Blood on their hands. A mortal sin, if I believed in that sort of thing.
Only in Trumpland are the tellers held to be solely responsible for the bank robbery.
He’s also been pushing for this since he was defeated. Hard to fight that much of a lead.
CNN calls Virginia for Harris, at least an hour after I knew she’s win it.
Pennsylvania will be heartbreakingly close. Harris WILL catch up a little but likely come up a tiny bit short.
Wisconsin is lost.
Michigan is, IMHO, a tossup.
Arizona remains in play. Harris is doing about as well or better in Biden counties as Biden did.
Nevada has only reported one Trump county.
Well they are certainly not going to like what happens next then. The Gaza Strip is a place Trump would love to put up a tacky gold hotel with his name on it.
I lost faith in people after the 2016 election and for the next 4 years tried to understand the conservative mindset. After the 2020 election results were so close I gave that up.
The fact that we all heard Trump call the Georgia officials asking for x more votes and there was absolutely no consequence after 4 years made me apathetic for 2024.
I’ll still vote blue, but this result doesn’t surprise me at all.
I (and many others) saw it coming in 2016, but I still don’t understand how.
