Sounds like exactly what I need to avoid.
I’m actually supposed to fly to Germany on November 6 for a holiday. For a few weeks beforehand I’ll be getting up earlier and earlier to acclimatize myself to the time change, but I imagine I’ll have a really hard time getting to sleep that night anyway, even if I’ve been up since 3:30AM. If things go badly, I won’t sleep at all. If things look positive, I’ll keep the faith that it’ll still look that way when I wake up. One reason out of several million that I hope Harris wins…I don’t want to be in a depressive funk for a week and a half while in Munich.
Brings me back to my trip to the UK in 2012, which happened to overlap the American election. I woke up in the middle of the night in my tiny ratty hotel room, switched on the six-inch TV hanging over the foot of the bed, watched Romney give his gracious concession speech, then happily rolled back over and went back to sleep.

I’m guessing it was a late show on the West Coast? ISTR that the call was made very, very late, after midnight in the Central time zone, where I live.

Where the heck do you live? Most folks can hack 3 hours change per day and the first 2 are free. So a 12 hour wrench (IOW worst case) washes out in ~3 days.
I have insomnia so my sleep cycle is completely out of whack already. I’m on vacation for so few days this year that I dread being too tired to do much when Over There and also being pointlessly up in the middle of the night. I change planes in Reyjavik at about three in the morning, which is midnight my time, and I doubt I’ll get much sleep on the second leg. If I can get a few hours of solid REM on the first flight, the night won’t be a total wash.
I’ll probably do what I usually do - make a list of the states in order of when their polls close, and note which ones have Senate races, probably including some order of how likely they are to flip.
Probably be drunk and have a panic attack.
