I would have put this question in the “Election” forum, but figure by definition of the forum, everyone there will certainly be glued to the TV that night. Just wondering about the rest of you. Foreign Dopers, feel free to join in.
Will you be watching the election results on TV?
If yes, where or how will you be watching - on TV, the Internet, home alone or with family/friends?
Also, if yes, any preference to source of info? CNN, MSNBC, FOX, local stations?
If no, what else do you plan on doing that night - watching a DVD, or searching channels for something else, or going out to a movie or go bowling, or what?
On a scale of 1 - 10, how interested are you in watching election results that night (10 being very interested, 1 being not interested a single iota).
Bonus question: Will you watch any/all of the upcoming debates?
As a political junkie, I intend to leave work a bit early and come home to watch the election results with my SO - probably on CNN. Consider me a “10”…have always loved watching election nights, even when things don’t turn out as I hoped.
And yes, I fully intend to watch all three debates, but might have to watch the taped versions as I am still at work when they are being aired live.
Whichever site I can find that’s stable and not Fox “News.” Probably PBS or one of the major news channels. Or I may go with Jon Stewart @ Colbert, if the stream is stable and not overloaded.
I said, “Yes”!
At least 10.
I intend to, out of interest, but I already am certain whom I’m voting for.
Will you be watching the election results on TV?
Yes.

On TV, with my wife.
Also, if yes, any preference to source of info? CNN, MSNBC, FOX, local stations?
Probably on CNN, because I enjoy seeing what John King will do with the graphics and technology.

Bonus question: Will you watch any/all of the upcoming debates?
I will definitely watch the first one, and probably all of them. My voting decision is made, but I believe that the debates are Romney’s last slim hope, and I am curious to see what he does with the opportunity.
Not planning on it. As you phrased the question, I’m a 1–while I’m very interested in the results, I have no interest in the talking head circus that accompanies them. Not a clue what I’ll do instead, and it’s a possibility I may watch after all, if I can do so in my local pub with beer and people.
I’ll have the TV on (tuned in to one of the cable news channels) in the background while I play one of the games on my computer. I’ll do both (game playing and TV watching) in a mediocre fashion. I’ll probably turn the TV off around midnight, Pacific.
I did this for the 2000 election, when it was announced for Bush on FNC. I did not know about the controversy until I got up for work the next day.
The over / under on when Romney accuses Obama of being, “The most liberal President ever” is set again at 17 seconds. That was the time for McCain to refer to the Senator Obama as most liberal senator.
Make up a list of already trite/tired sound bites and talking points. Then - do shots on every fifth mention of democratic or republican talking points/ sound bites. Every mention would be too many - we’d be passed out by the first 30 minutes.
Any actual to-the-point answer to a question causes a bell to ring and everyone drinks. Seldom happens that’s why shots on talking points was introduced.
1. Will you be watching the election results on TV? No. I have an early meeting the next day, and will find out who won as soon as I wake up.
***2-3. *** N/A
4. If no, what else do you plan on doing that night - watching a DVD, or searching channels for something else, or going out to a movie or go bowling, or what? Well it’s a Tuesday night, so I’ll probably be home on the couch watching TiVo with my dog.
5. On a scale of 1 - 10, how interested are you in watching election results that night (10 being very interested, 1 being not interested a single iota). About a 1 or a 2. Like Shodan I’ll watch the debates, but the back-and-forth of election results just winds up annoying me. (Though like LawMonkey, I guess there’s a chance I could be out at a bar that night; in which case I’d probably pay some attention.)
No. I’ll be playing WoW. I’m sure that someone will announce the results in a public chat channel. Then I’ll verify the results to make sure they’re not trolling. And then I’ll continue playing WoW, because watching doesn’t affect who wins and it’s going to be Obama anyway.
Will you be watching the election results on TV?
Yes
If yes, where or how will you be watching - on TV, the Internet, home alone or with family/friends?
TV at home w/ family.
Also, if yes, any preference to source of info? CNN, MSNBC, FOX, local stations?
Probably hop between Fox, CNN, MSNBC for the big one, local stations for Akin/McCaskill.
If no, what else do you plan on doing that night - watching a DVD, or searching channels for something else, or going out to a movie or go bowling, or what?

Bonus question: Will you watch any/all of the upcoming debates?
All of them.
I have a feeling it will not be close. I’m sure I’ll see the results right away but I won’t be watching the talking heads. I’ll be doing anything else.
Yes, I will watch the debates. I expect to see Obama live on Thursday at a Madison campaign event. In the incredibly unlikely circumstance that I get a chance to talk to him, I hope to congratulate him for kicking Romney’s ass. And yes, I will use that exact phrase. “Congratulations on kicking Governor Romney’s ass last night, Mr. President.”
I was going to chastise you for being mean, until I realized you were quoting yourself. Just blame it on your mobile keyboard’s autocorrect like everyone else does. =)
