It’s election time again, and all you ever hear is how bad the other guy is.
In this thread, I ask you to say something positive about your guy, period. (Unless you also have something positive to say about the other guy.) No destruction of the other guy here.
Please abide by these simple requests.
Thanks
Peace
Obama: As much as I disagree with him politically, he is a good family man, a capable leader, and honestly does what he thinks is best for the country.
Romney: He will appoint conservative justices to the United States Supreme Court.
Obama: I rolled my eyes when he said he’d get healthcare reform passed. That was a fairy story I’d heard from campaigns before. After he got elected, he went and did it! Say what you want about the man, but he at least tries to make good on his promises, and is more successful at it than most.
Romney: Out of the candidates in the Republican primaries that received more than 20% of the vote in a primary, he’s the most sane. (Sorry, that’s really the best thing I can say about him. If this is just a lame attempt to try to be as good a person as Jtgain, and I should have listened to Thumper’s mom, so be it.)
Romney: He looks presidential. Great hair, too.
Romney: I thought he did a pretty good job as governor of Massachusetts.
I think Obama would be a pretty rockin’ guy to have a chat with at a kegger.
I think it’s cool that Romney didn’t pretend to be a Christian to get into politics, like everybody else does. Opening up the floor to non-Christians is the first step to getting an open atheist in office. While I don’t anticipate that happening anytime in the next, oh… 50 years, it’s a good first step.
ahem Mormons are Christians. If you ask them, anyway.
Johnson is the only candidate who wants to reign in militarism, cut spending across the board, scale back the drug war and legalize marijuana, return more power to the states, legalize gay marriage nationwide, undertake serious tax reform, and make legal immigration easier.
Both candidates seem to truly love their wife and kids; I respect that.
I think Romney could have been a good pick for a GOP Cabinet post, at least before this race.
Obama is the best president we’ve had since Clinton and, after his second term, might well go down as the best since FDR.
Love Rhombus, did you actually say something positive there?
Obama: People like him. He has the potential to be a transformative figure in American politics. He has the potential to be a great leader and unite the country.
Romney: He has experience managing large organizations, in the private sector and in government. He’s been a success at everything he’s managed, success defined as leaving things better than when he took them over.
So he’s the best President since…the guy before last?
I kind of like that Romney didn’t completely throw his Massachucettes healthcare plan under the bus (though admittedly he gets pretty close sometimes). One of the more depressing parts of 2008 was watching McCain disavow stuff like immigration reform and campaign finance reform that he’d spent much of his career working on. Especially at it was pretty clear McCain wasn’t going to be Prez, it was sad watching an old guy turn his back on his lifes work in what was increasingly clearly a hopeless quest to be President.
Romney on the other hand, at least occasionally mentions Romneycare with some pride and takes the trouble to defends it, despite the fact that it clashes with pretty much the entire political persona he’s adopted over the last two years. As he should, its a great accomplishment and if he isn’t elected President, will be by far his most important legacy.
I don’t know, I like Staples and the olympics more than romneycare.
I really can’t say anything good about Obama.
But Romney is awesome.
Jill Stein supports public funding for college education (grants, rather than loans). This is a similar approach to Sweden. She also vociferously opposes the death penalty (rather like Gary Johnson) and supports gay marriage. Has been on record for both issues for over a decade. Unlike Gary Johnson, Jill Stein supports free access to contraceptives and federal funding for stem cell research. She opposes the Patriot Act and the provision for indefinite detention without trial of the national defence authorisation act. She supports the right of all non-criminals to obtain US citizenship. She opposes SOPA, PIPA and CISPA. She supports public financing of elections with paper ballots. Most importantly, perhaps, she supports universal single payer healthcare.
GASP! She would dismantle the ACA?
Gary Johnson (Libertarian Party) is a true fiscal conservative as demonstrated by his record as Governor of New Mexico.
Barack Obama (Democratic Party) is a Nobel Peace Prize winner.
Mitt Romney (Republican Party) admires the height of the trees in Michigan.
Roseanne Barr (Peace & Freedom Party) is quite entertaining especially at her recent Comedy Central Roast.
Virgil Goode (Constitution Party) is quite popular in southwestern Virginia.
Obama has done as good a job as anyone could have, given the Congressional leadership he has to deal with. His principles are for the most part morally sound.
Romney was not involved in the Lincoln assassination.
