Elementary Kids Sing Obama Indoctrination Song

After following a link to a rather vague editorial on the same site, so far all I’ve seen is this:

Well thanks, guys, don’t hold anything back. Hell, for all I know the school board sanctioned the teacher that presumably organized this months ago. Alterrnately, maybe they’re putting out an album. Who the hell knows?

Anyway, sorry, I’m just messing with you. Enjoy your sneerfest.

No worries.

So apart from being the subject of the song, what does Barack Obama have to do with this? Did he issue some directive requiring a fawning song about him?

Sure, I do! Why not? It’s fun! Mmm! Mmmm! Mmmm!

Quite sure. I will work on my coding, though, and I promise to start productively participating once this becomes important.

I really do think a press secretary or Obama or someone should just briefly rebuke [stuff like] this, I know it sounds like overkill but given that two visible sides in this country right now consist of “write songs/bad poetry about Obama/pledge to serve him” and “he’s EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL™” (though I’d say the latter is a little more prevalent) it might be nice to at least try before things come to a head. Besides, then he can play the humility card next election.

Well, as far as i can tell, the OP isn’t criticizing Obama. Surely the fact that the song is about Obama is germane to the topic?

The pitting itself, however, seems to be aimed more at the school and the teacher than at Obama or the Democrats.

So do they sing it to the melody of the Campbell’s Soup jingle?

(Just for the record, I’m a liberal and even I’d be annoyed if this were my kid. That’s really creepy.)

Well, c’mon, that’d be sacrilegious–GWB isn’t The One.

Neither is Obama, he’s That One, damn it THAT One.

Having watched the video, I think if they want to do any indoctrinating, they might start with concepts like timing and harmony.

Evil One, just give it up. It’s impossible to get these nitwits to realize anything about how evil and misguided the left is. You can’t win here. Glenn Beck “throws” a “frog” into some water and everyone pits him. A class full of kids sings the praises of a D politician and everyone goes “meh”. The crowd here is biased as far as can be. There is no hope for this forum, especially not in the Pit. Just hang it up and call it a day.

When we watched it on O’Reilly earlier, my husband said, “Hand them some little red books and they are all set!”

I haven’t read the frog thread but what the hell do you want us to do? It was a lone agent teacher, we all admitted it was creepy/weird, but it affects a small amount of people and it’s the sort of thing that’s realistically only going to be sorted out locally (or, like I said, a brief rebuke from the administration). Now if, say, CNN did this or Obama told people to do it then we can line up for the mouth frothing.

This seems to be one rogue teacher, acting on his own initiative. Cause for concern? Yes. Enough to make the national news? I don’t really think so.

It’s clearly inappropriate what the teacher did, and the teacher should be reprimanded.

What would be newsworthy would be if the school board voted for a “pro-obama indoctrination” curriculum. It would show that the left (at least large enough elements of the left to sway elections) actually want to indoctinate children.

Why would they sing a song about George W. Bush as a part of Black History Month? :dubious:

Well, I hope you enjoy Hell.

Question time for you: Which of these is a probably a lone nut, and which one is without any room for argument a highly popular star of a major news network?

This is another one of those Hanlon’s razor things.

People making a fuss over the frog incident weren’t doing so because Glen Beck is a right wing pundit. They honestly believed he boiled a frog alive.

What is wrong with the person who writes the “Yes, But, However” blog that I followed three links on his (her?) own site and still couldn’t find any context on this stupid thing, but was able to find an AP story on it in less than 5 seconds of Googling? Would it have killed this person to have mentioned any specifics about what was going on in the damn video, apart from, “OMG they are singing about Obama”?

News story. It happened in February '09 (so why there is outrage right this very second, I am not quite clear) as part of a Black History Month thing at that school.

Bad idea, definitely. IMO you shouldn’t have schoolkids singing the praises of any sitting elected official. However, if Nzinga, Seated were to post the vid of her and her daughter singing along, on YouTube, I would be linking the shit out of that m’fer. I’m just sayin’.
