Elizabeth Warren 2020. How do you feel about it?

It wasn’t a bet. It was a statement:

“And we will say, ‘I will give you a million dollars, paid for by Trump, to your favorite charity if you take the test and it shows you’re an Indian,” Trump said. “And we’ll see what she does. I have a feeling she will say no but we will hold it for the debates.”

She took the test. It showed she was an Indian.

The irony is, it doesn’t even actually substantiate her claim. She never claimed to be part Native American. She claimed that family lore said that she was part Native American. Which is, of course, almost certainly true, because most families have some lore that says they’re part Native American. How that ever got to be the subject of attacks, I can’t fathom.

She just requested that the money be sent to an Indian’s women’s group.

And Trumps says he never said what was recorded.

Warren is perfect where she is. Someday we will have a woman president, I’m not sure we’re ready for it yet. What we need is to have literally any other person defeat the orange stooge in 2020, we can try to break that glass ceiling in the next decade.

It doesn’t show that “she’s an Indian.” It shows that she had a Native American ancestor 6 to 10 generations ago. She has no personal connection to any tribe, she is not an enrolled member of a tribal band. Of course Trump’s criteria of “you’re an Indian” is a stupid thing to say given that she didn’t claim to be “an Indian” in the first place, she only claimed that it was a family legend.

In any case, I do not believe she is remotely capable of beating Trump in 2020, and I hope the Democrats have a deep primary and that the party offers up a more substantial bench of potential choices than they did last time around.

Emphasis added. She did claim that.

True, it was not a bet. I stand corrected. But the statement you quoted was in reference to a challenge he planned to make to her in a debate. He did not actually make that challenge, yet. No payment due.

That was the very first sentence of the link you quoted from.

So unless he actually threw the test kit at her, as he promised, his statement doesn’t count?

One ancestor up to 10 generations ago? I wonder if her ancestor actually IS Pocahontas?

Which is consistent with her original claim. So what’s the problem?

if she ran she would lose worse than Clinton.

When the statement starts out “But let’s say I’m debating Pocahontas, I’ll do this …”, and no debate between President Trump and Pocahontas ensues, you’re left with an incredibly weak argument, which you are choosing to doggedly pursue.

Do you think I believed for one second that trump would honor his debt for the first time in his life or that his supporters wouldn’t blindly support their con man?

I suppose one could make that argument, but I wouldn’t. I’m simply saying that he needs to actually make the challenge, not talk about his plan to do so at some future time. That is all.

We can’t know what you believe. We can only know what you post. If you want to believe he would not honor the challenge if and when it would actually be made, that’s fine. I’d probably agree with you. That has nothing to do with whether the challenge was made or not.

Why don’t you wait and see how trumps 2019 goes? It might have clues about his 2020. I know it might involve not having an opinion for a few months but it might be for the better.

So, the Senator took my advice and had her DNA tested!

By the way, the claim was never the sort of vague claim that some press reports imply. The claim was always specific to her gt-gt-gt grandmother who has a peculiar double name: Sarah Smith AND Neoma Ocie. (Experts: Does Neoma Ocie sound like a Cherokee name?) Neoma’s marriage license is supposed to show her as “Cherokee,” but IIUC that license is no longer available.

And of course Neoma might have been only half- or quarter-Indian, fitting the DNA result.

“Most” families? Cite? My family had no lore of Native American descent, nor do I have recollections of any such claims from my American friends.

I think you’ve deluded yourself into believing it’s a “debt”.

I heard there is Cherokee blood on my mom’s side somewhere. My mom has high cheekbones, but they skipped a generation. I was on the fence with 23andme, this might push me over the edge!

Warren debased herself with this move. Not only does nobody care if she has a smidgen of NA ancestry like the rest of us, she associates her name with this inanity from here on out. She is still the “white” woman who tried to game the affirmative action pity party. Now she will never rise above this status to the public. She is now an episode on the Trump Show.

That said she never had a chance anyway.

I have no idea why Warren took the bait in the first place. The test could show that she’s 50% Cherokee and Trump supporters wouldn’t believe it, anyway.

Regarding the numbers - Michelle Malkin is claiming that the Globe corrected its story and Warren may be as little as 1/1024 Native American. I can’t find valid backup for that anywhere - Google is leading me to the same claim from Brietbart, Washington Examiner, Daily Caller, etc. only.

The Globe is behind a paywall - am I missing a correction that Google isn’t showing?

I’m not concerned about the numbers themselves; just trying to find out if Malkin is completely full of shit as usual.
