You’re quite correct. One would have to be honorable to consider their word to incur a debt.
Why are you nitpicky about the timing of the challenge (during a debate) and not the mechanism of the challenge (somehow throwing the kit at her and taking her DNA that way or something)? Is it because these are both tangential nonsense that have nothing to do with his actual challenge?
Are you really incapable of grasping the fact that “his actual challenge” didn’t happen? He never challenged her. He said, in essence, “if we’re ever in a debate, I will challenge her”. They never had a debate. He never challenged her. You should be able to understand this. It’s not complicated.
And if the Democrats run someone else, there are going to a lot of voters asking, “Where’s Elizabeth Warren?” She already had a following wanting her to run in 2016.
If she doesn’t want the Presidency, that’s fine. But she’s possibly the major leader of the party and the center-left to left range already. Who else would it be? It’s not Amy Klobuchar; it’s not Chuck Schumer; Nancy Pelosi isn’t really progressive enough for the leftier part of the base; Al Franken’s gone; and Bernie is a little too outside the main structure of the party.
Face it, Warren is pretty much turning into the candidate.
Hi Hurricane! Have you listened to the video? (Sorry, you may need a couple of extra clicks to get the right video to play — I don’t know a link straight to the 2:41-long video.)
I do NOT dispute the claim you make. I just wonder if you have the gumption to listen to that video and, if so, what your comment is.
I watch it and all I can think is what a nasty despicable pandering hater this peculiar excuse for a human being is. I’m curious what you think.
Pretend you don’t know that this is the hero who lowered your taxes, made peace with North Korea, reformed healthcare, the federal government, and drained the swamp. Pretend you know nothing about him but that he is giving a speech about Senator Warren. What would you think of him?
I watched the video (here is a direct link to the video, BTW). My thoughts? It sounded like fairly typical red meat for a party’s base that gets thrown out at a campaign rally. Nothing in that video jumped out at me as particularly galling or offensive. I didn’t see anything that distinguishes him in a meaningful way from the average politician that infests DC, certainly nothing that raises him to a particularly high (or is it low?) level of “nasty despicable pandering hater” with enough distinction to set him apart from the rest of the field. IOW, this is typical-politician-levels of “nasty despicable pandering” in my view.
For the umpteenth time, he did NOT “challenge her to take a DNA test”.
FWIW, I believe her opponent did, or some politician in MA, so you could probably find a politician this could be said of accurately, but that would require to ease up on your death-grip of Trump hatred and focus on facts.
Oh dear, I’m afraid all you’ve done is lay out the partisanship of Snopes for all to see. We know what the quote, the WHOLE quote, says. We’ve seen the video. They snipped the beginning off of it and evaluated that as if Trump had said it without the “But let’s say I’m debating Pocahontas, I’ll do this …” preface.
Wow! With a capital W. Trump’s performance in that video is so “beyond the pale” that it would be astounding in any other context. Calling the insults despicable is an understatement. In many contexts, a performance like this would have friends, relatives, or the relevant Board of Directors seeking an intervention or considering a court filing for a Declaration of Incompetence.
Yet you claim to find this typical for “the average politician that infests DC.” My mind boggles. I won’t ask for evidence that this rant was “typical” — I’d like to see you come up with even one single rant by a leading Democratic politician that even hints, however remotely, at rising toward this level.
And if she is going to run getting rid of these stupid distracting memes before any real campaigning so that they are non-issues by campaign time is the way to go.
