I never liked the addition of Ellen on AI and didn’t watch this season. I thought if she wanted to be a judge on a talent show she would have fit much better on America’s Got Talent, although they weren’t looking for anyone last year and Howie Mandel got the opening for the current season. She didn’t have the music background that the others (and guest judges) have and that’s what that show is focused on. With AGT, just having an entertainment background is enough.
Sir Elton John would be a good Simon.
Ozzy?
Personally glad to see both Ellen and Kara exit the show. I’m willing to give Lopez and Tyler a shot even though it sounds like a trainwreck coming round the bend. I’d say send Randy on his way with some parting gifts and have a new 3 person “panel” each season. That might work but yeah I’m thinking Simon’s new show will outperform until AI slips quietly 'neath the waves.
Ozzy would require subtitles or an Ozzy to English translator.
Elton john was a candidate, but the show conflicted with his touring schedule, so he’s out. Harry Connick, Jr. Has also been mentioned as a possibility.
I have an excellent suggestion for the role that may go to J-Lo : Shiela E. She was very good as a judge on ‘The Next Great American Band’. She gave good advice and shot straight from the hip, and she has a ton of music experience.
The one good thing I can say about the proposed lineup including Steven Tyler is that it suggests that they might move a little more in a rock direction. Simon Cowell’s biggest flaw is that he has sucky taste in music - especially American music like blues or country, or most forms of rock.
I’m glad I didn’t hear those rumors. I would’ve been so upset upon finding out they were false. OTOH, I’m not upset to find out that the PDiddyPuffDaddySeanCombs rumors were false.
