Emmy's Tonight.....

So, assuming that they will still air tonight, in light of today’s bombings: What will the tone be like? Anyone have an idea?

I was watching E! earlier and they say it will be very toned down. Very little of the glitz we usually see. Security is very tight and as of yesterday most of the stars attending weren’t doing the Red Carpet walk.

The show is opening with some of the best footage from 9/11, narrated by Walter Cronkite and they’re doing a salute to the firemen and NYPD.

Personally, I’m not sure this was the best way to go. I was looking forward to the glitz as a hearty “Up yours!” to the terrorists, but they said there was precedence in past Oscar nights when the show was toned down and included tributes of a sort. When Martin Luther King was killed and when Reagan was shot.

Truncating my own thread.

No Emmys this year. They have been cancelled.

I turn off the news to watch the STNG marathon on TNN and I miss that tidbit.

I really wish they wouldn’t cancel it outright. I still think it would be a hearty “Up Yours!”. Have it in January or something.

Are they going to announce winners? Are they simply cancelling the show or are they going to cancel the awards entirely?

Just the show was cancelled. They haven’t decided how they’re going to announce winners or get the statuettes to them

It’s all a plot against Ellen.
