Even as a kid, Fruit Stripe was bad enough to decline. The fruit flavor was famously fleeting but a sourness lingered. The Beastie Boys even got in a dig.
They stopped selling it in Canada decades ago. When Dollar Tree finally came here, you could buy some other forgotten brands from the same company, but not that one. Smelled great. Tasted amazing for the first ten seconds. That stuff lost its taste quicker than Guy Fieri at the ballet….

Exactly. I’ve even seen it for sale here in Switzerland. Don’t chew gum, so I didn’t buy it.
35+ years ago my babysitters would let me have a stick, to try to get me to stop biting my nails. I don’t bite my nails.
I love how this thread is full of people saying, “I haven’t bought or used this product in decades … but I’m sad/shocked that they stopped making it!”
I think it is just the nostalgia. A loss of something from our past even if it was not important to us.
If the flavour lasted longer than ten seconds and they sold it here I might buy some.
And the double-tap, finding out they were still making it first, then that it’s going to be gone.
I like stripes and I liked the cartoon animals. As a gum, there were better choices to be had, but I was a kid and liked it well enough. As everyone has already noted, the flavor did not last.
Add me to the “that was still around” and “the flavor lasts ten seconds” bandwagons. Not sad to see it go, haven’t seen any since the 80s.
I was still aware it was being made, and I still had high hopes that they would someday make its wonderful flavor last longer than a dozen chews. Alas, they did not.

I remember chomping through a 24 stick pack of the stuff in less than an hour as a kid. Chasing the dragon, trying to get some flavor for Kripes sake.
