I always knew I had a pretty decent family, but after reading this thread… man, we must have been the freaking Cleavers!!! We all still speak to each other! I never imagined that was so rare.
It’s only rare in a thread about toxic siblings!
I wouldn’t cut ties with my brother but I don’t see any being there much once our mother dies. He’s 11 years older, took a totally different path in life, and lives a thousand miles away. I guess one of us will be at the others funeral but as it is we’re basically a phone call a year and a lunch every 5 or 6 years.
(Don’t get me wrong – he’s a fine person and I like being around him. But we’re just too different and too far apart in too many ways.)
My youngest brother stopped talking to me after I asked my second youngest brother if I could go to his wedding, because I was embarrassed to ask him directly, we hadn’t spoken to each other for nearly 2 years, and I was mad at him banning his own mother from a wedding in which the brides mother had died. So I got banned from the wedding as well.
