English Premier League 2010/11

Everton, I guess, because they have some 'murkins.

My real rooting interest is Watford in the Championship.

Side question: Are games for the Championship available online, on cable, or other, in the US?

Fox Soccer Plus (different channel from Fox Soccer Channel), which is available on the Time Warner Cable sports package, shows NPower Championship matches. They had Cardiff-Sheffield United and Leeds-Derby on Saturday.

Bolton have a 'murkin - Stuart Holden!

As do Everton in Tim Howard.

Then, of course, Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa all have Americans in the boardroom, which may or may not be a good thing, though I suspect you’ll get the same comments from supporters of all of those clubs except Arsenal, where the American (Kroenke) is preferable to the Russian (Usmanov).

Spurs - because coping with disappointment is a good life skill to have.

Well that’s a great fucking start to the season.

Spoken like a true Spurs man…

Never mind quoting Peter Crouch, what about O’Neill and the Villa?

The thing that gets me is that the choice to follow them was completely arbitrary. Yet, I cannot tear myself away and follow another team.

RE: Crouch - So? Near as I can tell, no one in England is giving it to their own spouse or girlfriend/boyfriend exclusively.

That is shocking timing from O’Neil. Fancied him as one of the first to go but thought he’d get till Christmas at least. He’s been backed handsomely by Lerner to get Villa into the CL, and hasn’t done it. He’s clearly a very good manager, but made some awful decisions at Villa - Spent close to 50 million on dross, refuses to trust the squad players and get them playing for him, resulting in a decimated first eleven come Spring time, and now he’s bottling out when things are rough.

Supporting Spurs is a life sentence with no chance of parole (although we might win in a cup competition now and again)

Where are you from?

The Crouch reply was just a bit of knockabout humour.

the sales of Barry and Milner (when it goes through) should balance the books.

I don’t think O’Neill’s a bottler.
…and a chocolate teapot to the first poster who sees Neil Lennon down the dole office…

I renewed my season ticket at Spurs again, but I’m a bit worried about the team being up to challenging on two fronts now we have the potential of the Champions League. I could see us doing better than expected in Europe but then finishing 6th or 7th in the league.

Sorry to see Martin O’Neil go. I know he bought a lot of duds at Villa, but he has also turned them into a decent team after the crap he inherited from O’Leary.

Spurs here, since after following the Minnesota Vikings for forty years it only seems natural that I follow a team that does just well enough to make sure the inevitable disappointment *really *hurts.

My father told me he supported The Arsenal, which was why I supported Spurs. It was years later that I found out he was really a Spurs supporter. he just wanted me to suffer as well…

I’m thinking of starting a “Spurs Suicide Watch” thread…

Rumours:
William Gallas to Spurs.
Bob Bradley to The Villa.
Martin O’Neill, England.

Strange Days indeed…

I see what Levy’s up to.

Booing makes you thirsty = more drink sales.

Your father is a clever man! I would never have thought of that. Good result in the Community Shield, obviously it’s likely to mean very little come May, but it sets down a good marker.

Manchester City. very interested to see how all the new boys jell. Most excited about Kolarov at left back, but all the new arrivals are exciting in their own way.

It isn’t going to happen. Isn’t. Isn’t. Isn’t. I shan’t let it.
