chowder, wherever he is, must have been happy for the 2 and a half hours that City were above Blackpool and top of the table.
My prediction of Blackpool finishing worse than Derby from a few years back took a huge hit. I can’t see them getting just 7 points the rest of the way (7 pts in 37 matches is all but impossible, right?!). Already, Roberto Martinez is on the hot seat. I really liked him on ESPN’s World Cup coverage, so I was hoping Wigan would do well.
I can’t wait for United-Newcastle this afternoon. Rooney, Berbatov, Chicharito, and Valencia to score!
I will be taking up the Manchetser City banner again, although I am not particularly pleased with the price of the signing of Milner, and would not be sad to see a number of players leave the squad… I’m looking at you Robinho, Barry, Viera, Jo. Sad to see Bellers go, I really liked what he could do for the team, though he we was getting a bit long in the tooth for a man that relies on speed.
Based on City’s goaltending during the first 45mn of the Spurs match last Saturday, one has to wonder if England’s fortunes in South Africa this summer couldn’t have been a bit different if there had been a different person between the nets…
dragon- not a big England fan, but I did not understand Capello’s decision at all. Hart was one of the best in the EPL, if not the best last year, and was a far superior option to Green.
I’ve decided to follow the Premier League for the first time after the World Cup. Why? Because my favorite player of the last 8 months or so, Javier Hernandez aka Chicharito, just signed for Manchester United, the first Mexican to sign for Manchester United ever. The hype is incredible. He has scored several amazing (including a hilarious face-goal against Chelsea) goals in his few games since joining the team. I love to watch him play.
I think the idea was that Hart was too young and inexperienced. It was a bad decision, that’s for sure, but I don’t think anyone expected quite the degree of incompetence shown by Green.
Fucking hell, if shit defending like that displayed against Fulham is going to cost us the title again, I will not be pleased. Although theirs wasn’t any better - how teams think it’s a good idea not to mark Scholesey when he waits outside the box from a corner is beyond me. Another stereotypical strike from the gingernut.
I’m also quite glad I didn’t put any money on Blackpool to finish bottom (could be had at evens before the start of the season, I believe - should be even bigger odds now!).
Back on track with a win over the Toffeebastards. Life is good again (especially in combination with the cricket, though I don’t see Broad bailing us out against the Aussies like that).
The last half-hour of Aston Villa-Everton was pretty fun to watch as a neutral. I never saw the final count, but it seemed like Everton went over 20 corners for the match, and it seemed like well over half were in that half-hour. Poor Ashley Young, kept trying and trying and trying to get a counter, but Everton would always have just enough to snuff out a goal.
Good for United to get on track with about as mundane 3-0 win as you can find. City…
I agree it should have been a yellow. I don’t know why I thought it was 3-1 and not 4-1.
However, had this been an MLS game there wouldn’t have been any call at all. The MLS looks like special ed soccer compared to the EPL. I’m pretty sure mid ranked EPL teams could thrash the best MLS teams.
Agreed - shocking decision, hopefully it will be rescinded.
I think most MLS teams should be able to put at least two past our defence at the moment. I know I keep banging on about it but my earlier comments on this are looking more and more prescient by the game - and I hate it.
We appealed and the Premier League upheld the ref’s decision. At least they didn’t punish us for a frivolous appeal by adding an extra game to the 3 match ban.
