English Premier League 2017-18

Not quite top. Man U sitting up there on the top perch, courtesy 8 unanswered goals.

I’m still trying to figure out what NBC is trying to accomplish by moving the minor matches (3 pm UK) time to their NBC Gold package at $49 per year. The big clubs are still on NBC Sports network or other cable networks, and those can be still be streamed on the NBC sports app for free with a cable login. Does NBC really think there’s an untapped audience of Burnley fans in the USA who are willing to pay $49 a year to watch games online on a Saturday morning?

Those games were also broadcast on NBC Sports extra channels on cable but, on my cable, they were only in SD and therefore not too appealing anyway.

Yeah, they’ve got it all backward. Force peeps to pay to see the big boys. Offer the little fry for free.

Meanwhile, in Chicago, Trump is bringing people together. Bigly.

This fucking transfer window can’t close soon enough. Yet more Coutinho drama.

Sigh. 2-0 Man U. over Leicester. Watched the first half; we didn’t really give United that much trouble; the game had an air of inevitability about it.

United are really getting it together at the back. That’s scary.

Very odd, a sudden change at goalkeeper for Liverpool vs Arsenal as Karius replaces Mignolet. Karius hasn’t gotten a start in a major match in about a year or so.

No reason announced yet, I’ll assume perhaps illness.

Man U have it together everywhere. IMO they are the clear favorite barring injury/Mourinho meltdown.

That was an absolute thrashing as Liverpool truly embarrassed Arsenal. I can’t wait to listen to the UK football podcasts to see how harsh they are towards Arsene Wegner.

Arsene Wenger isn’t the problem, unless the lack of action in the transfer market is his fault. Boy did the team look listless, though. Liverpool carved them up easily.

Liverpool always do well against the big clubs and struggle against lesser teams.

Well, the silly season is finally over. Now, we can spend the next few months watching teams playing with everyone who they kept/got, not having to dance around the question of whether the want-aways would be worth putting on the field.

I notice that Riyad Mahrez isn’t so hot a property as he apparently thinks he is. Perhaps he should try learning what to do when double-teamed.

What a great story for Everton striker Oumar Niasse today. Last season, his manager Ronald Koeman told him he wasn’t wanted: “if Niasse likes to play football he needs to leave Everton”. Niasse was demoted to the under-23 squad and his personal locker was revoked.

Fast-forward to this season and Everton had lost their last three league games without scoring a goal, and found themselves near the bottom of the table. With Everton losing at home to Bournemouth today, Niasse came off the bench to score two goals and win the game, quite possibly saving his manager’s job in the process.

Lovely stuff.

No matter what they say about karma in the imho thread, Jamie Hardy proved its existence in the match v Liverpool.

What karma are you referring to? I assume you are referencing Vardy’s missed penalty kick. Why was that “karma”?

At the end of the first half he dove and was awarded a free kick. FK was blocked for a corner which turned into a goal as time ran out. His dive created goal was nullified by his missed penalty in the second half.

Kun Aguero injured in an auto accident in Amsterdam after seeing a concert. Rumors are he will be out for 2 months. Muy estupido Kun.

Harry Kane is pretty much unstoppable in September. Why is he always so stoppable in August?

I love Harry, but he’s a bit gullible. He was told he can’t score in August… He believed it.

RIP past Newcastle Chairman Freddy Sheppard.
